Torque converter gearboxes are inherently more durable than DSGs, DCTs, and much-much better performers than CVTs and AMTs.

With these parameters in my mind, I have been looking for a car with a TC gearbox for quite some time. Budget, as less as possible.

New POLO and RAPID were top on the list but then they were outdated and now discontinued. I was never convinced enough to spend 10L on 10 years + old design(aged well though.)

Next on the list were Marutis but then the 4-speed gearbox kept me away. 13L+ for Sonet Diesel automatic is the best option so far. Being sub 4m gives me second thoughts though.

But with 6 speed automatic, paddle shifters etc, Ertiga and XL6 will be just right for so many of us. I hope on-road price is less than INR 12L for Ertiga.

From the pics, not only Ertiga but even new XL6 won't get the HUD / sunroof and mostly, no 360 degree camera. But a 6-speed auto will be there.

Baleno gets HUD, 360 degree camera, and an AMT, but no sunroof.

New Brezza may get HUD, 360 degree camera, sunroof and 6-speed auto.

So the Nexa cars like XL6 and Baleno may lack features compared to an Arena car like Brezza. Strange, IMO.

As per my source, XL6 will get a 360 degree camera, Tyre pressure monitoring system, Front ventilated seats, 4 airbags and 16 inch alloys (same as Indonesian XL7)

When I had booked Ertiga ZXI AT in October last year, the OTR in Pune was 1285700 INR. There is no way it can be less than that and the expected is about 138000 to be the least. The equivalent XL6 should be between 15-16L that would still beat Carens by 1-2 Lakhs.

Ertiga VXI though might be around 12L but better stretch and get the top model 'coz you will always find something or the other missing in the second or third top models that cannot be fixed in the after market without warranty issues.

Marutis as a segment themselves are VFM vehicles and looking at how Kia or any other players for that reason are playing the 'introductory pricing' games, the newly launched Ertiga/XL6 are going to not only retain their market share but also increase the same.

Carens booking cancellation rate is only going to increase day by day now. I would not be surprised if more than 50% of Carens booking are canceled by end of this month.

Now Maruti only has to expedite the delivery rate to convert this opportunity to successful sales and they seem to be pretty capable of the same.

The pic above should be a top spec with the 360 degree camera. The front antenna is missing, so the shark fin should be functional and add character to the vehicle

Yes, this is what I am eager to know as am in the market for a 7 seater ideally. Anyhow, planning to book Ertiga and XL6 soon and decide later after test driving the Carens as well.

I finally booked the 2022 XL6 just now online, I choose Nexa (Kalyani Motors, JP Nagar) the nearest Nexa in Bangalore. I paid 11K, immediately got the PDF online receipt and booking no. Interesting observation on the site while booking only asked for Alpha or Zeta and 5-6 colour's to chose not, it did not ask for MT or AT options ( I am assuming the dealer will ask all of that) shall keep you all posted on my experience.

My sales advisor with whom i was interacting from Jan 2022 called about 30-40 minutes of my booking and wanted my Aadhaar and PAN nos. to complete the booking he confirmed with me on MT or AT version I confirmed MT. when probed further he has no idea on On the road price or delivery dates or waiting period or features, but promised to get back to me.

I was deciding to buy a car since 1 year now but was exploring my options and finalized on XL6. then came to know about the facelift model being launched. A friend is SA in NEXA who asked me to do the booking in Early April, when the unofficial bookings were being taken. I paid 11k and the asked me for Adhar card and PAN card to complete the booking. Received the PDF copy with booking number over email. Date of booking: 2nd April 22

Received a call from different NEXA today to inform about official booking, he also asked me for PAN and Adhar for booking. When asked about the updated price, he was unaware of the same.

As of now booked White beauty with MT. Waiting for prices, tempted to go for 6speed AT

The waiting period is really torturous. Have watched almost all videos over YT about the user review, modifications, read many posts here on team BHP, the excitement just keeps on growing and growing.

Why would you expect a price bump of 1 lac for a facelift ? Even with Baleno facelift, prices stayed about the same.

I think we can expect a minor 10-25K bump, but nothing crazy like a 1 lac bump.

Alpha AT XL6 in Mumbai on road used to come for 14.20 lac, I can foresee the new one to be around 14.5 lac, nothing more than that.

If this comes with 6 airbags, 16 inch wheels, tpms and 360 camera, 1 lakh price increase minimum will be expected for top end AT. Already we know it's a new engine with 6 speed AT.

The base model shouldn't have much increase and should be around 25 to 40K max.

Even Baleno got all that, the 360 camera & the new engine, but the price stayed the same. I sometimes feel we customers want to pay more for something which might not even cost a lot

Lot of Factors to price a particular model:

1. Competitors in the same segment (Monopoly versus Olygopoly versus Bloody red ocean)
2. Value addition as compared to the last generation of the same model
3. External factors e.g. govt regulations
4. Costs based on Engine specifications (low displacement versus high displacement)

Baleno and XL6 are from different segments and the pricing strategies for both are different.

Also considering the fact that MSIL never compromise on two things: Their contribution margin and fuel economy, they are going to keep the cost low versus the competition even within the segment.

So the only competition here (my input was for automatic only) is Kia Carens 1.4P dct which is costing around 14.59 L showroom and XL6 would keep it at least 1L lower than the same to completely eliminate the luxury plus dct Carens and prestige plus to a substantial level.

They (MSIL) don't need to invent any strategy to outdo the competition. There positioning in the market (based on the above mentioned two things) has been their strategy for long.

XL6 Alpha AT should be between 13-14L ex showroom (which is not a bad price IMHO), anything less than that would be a bonus for all of us.

Just booked online for Alpha Automatic XL6. Currently, I drive Seltos HTK petrol. Need a bigger car for extra boot and occasional 6-7 seater. I already booked Carens 1.5 D AT in March. Seeing the price hike, hoping not to miss out on XL6 introductory price.
