SA from Infinity called to update about anticipated features like 18-inch wheels, HUD, larger 10.2 touch screen, cooled seats, wireless phone charger, and some other cosmetic changes. Closer to sLine prices but with a slight premium.

Perfect additions i would say. All very useful and probably liked by most customers.

Though ventilated seats seam unlikely as I don't think it is offered on this platform in any market. Would be interesting to see if they can offer it.

The only change I'm dying to see is an All-digital instrument cluster like the other BMW models on sale currently in India!
Hate those analog dials, just too simple in my opinion, and makes the cabin feel more dated.

With the addition of all these features coupled with good discounts (which were previously available) in the coming months, I believe we have a GLA killer already! Merc GLA at an ex-showroom price of around 44L for the Petrol, an absolute joke!

But BMW should really stop increasing the prices obnoxiously every quarter without any reason at all!

Believe this Tech Edition will be priced between 43-44L ex-showroom...

1. That change cannot be done since this generation of the platform and F48 do not support the digital cluster that BMW offers in their other cars

2. Even their digital cluster that they offer in other models is hardly any useful and the analog dials with the small screen at the bottom look much more classy. The reverse Tacho and dark skin honestly need an improvement to be anywhere near as good as the Audi, Mercedes ones.

And i believe this Tech edition is a clear response to the GLA because until now X1 was basically unrivaled in this space with only competitor being the XC40 which has limited brand appeal. Hopefully they give better discounts to keep the stocks moving.

I am hoping this comparatively old (as against GLA, XC40) product to be priced not over 42L ex-showroom to get some decent numbers. The current variants are not moving since the discount being offered is not much, it could be a ploy to get those fence-sitters with these new features and less discounts.

What I don’t get is why are they launching this Tech version only for the Petrol 20i? The same was done when it was launched as a facelift, the M-Sport which looked classy was only available for the Diesel 20d.

Re: BMW to launch X1 20i Tech Edition on July 15, 2021

Viewing the video uploaded by BMW quite a few times the following were noticed:

1. There are no digital dials , its the same old semi-digital instrument cluster

2. The 18-inch wheel looks quite good (the outgoing model has pretty basic wheels and
the suit an i20 rather than a BMW)

3. I think they might be bringing Xdrive back? ( highly unlikely but the video showcased
many shots of the X1 "off-roading")

Re: BMW to launch X1 20i Tech Edition on July 15, 2021

The Tech edition is such a joke.

18 inch wheels that we know are low profile and have issues in India
The Wireless charger that is not large enough to hold the Pro Max and note sized phones of today

The only really useful features are the HUD(which can't project navi directions from carplay because it is iDrive 6) , bigger screen and better sound system.

With the sort of stingy equipment list that they have for other variants, I would have rather expected some of these things to be made standard across the range. And still no sport seats (which were the highlight of Msport variant)

And have just returned from a 4 day trip to Rishikesh in the new acquisition (I stay in Gurgaon).
Quite happy with the car!

Also a very good buying experience from Bird Automotive on Golf Course Road, Gurgaon.
