Times Drive says "There are talks about the Honda Odyssey MPV and the Civic entering the market in a couple of months. Both the cars will be brought in from Honda's Thailand facility where the City has it roots."

If Honda gets the Odyssey, it'll be priced at around 13-15 lakhs. That means it'll be interfering with the Accord/CRV. I feel that instead , Honda should get in the Stream [10-12 lakhs] or the Mobilio [7-8 lakhs]. Getting a 15 lakhs MPV in a country where theres no market for India could be "disastrous"
for Honda.

This time too Team BHP [it was Formula India then] was the first to break the news on the Honda MPVs.

I too feel India isn't ready for an MPV. But hey, it'll never be unless someone takes charge and brings it here.

Can't wait for the Civic, i hope they pump it with enough "steroids".

Regards...

India is right and not right for the minivans..it depends on how you look at it..in terms of space on the road then no, but if you look at family needs, then definitely yes...plus the minivan is not a competition for the CRV, they are totaly different cars..you can fit many more ppl in the minivan than you can in the CRV, CRV is infact just a car with more boot room, it is not a real SUV..Pajero is..LX470 is..Parado is kind of..Land Cruiser etc are...

But i think many *people might be buying the minivan, but I say many in refernce to the ppl who can afford a 15 lakh car..

plus the indian car mrkt is expaning and it aint coming down in the near future..so you have to be early in the game to capture the market..look at what mercedes did, they came when ppl didnt want to spend 6 lakhs on a car and they were asking for 24..so its just a matter of strategy...

but i am also interested in the civic, the city has turned into one ugly duckling just like its mommy...so civic should be a good move, I think a good move would be to bring the japanese accord as the acura inro level competing with the C class..(that could be a good and interesting move)

Lets wait and see what happens..in another 10 years we will be filled with all sorts of cars..just hope there is place left to drive them..I had heard of some gigantic plans of making 2 level roadways in delhi..but i guess that just turned into flyovers...which did a lot of good..but i still feel flyovers are just a small answer to the problem, we need to find ways of expanding the number of lanes on the road..by going into a different level altogether just like japan...make all city roads into 2-tier tollways and charge the ppl for it..govt shouldnt be involved in it at all..its not in their capacity to do something lile this..some prvt firm can only do it..like the JPs who are building the NH8 main delhi gurgaon HW..or the ESSAR grp..and others...

Cheers..

The Civic is really worth waiting for . Had some great experiences with it when I stayed in Dubai all my years of childhood. I hope they get it with at least a couple of engine options . It surely is worth waiting for

Cheers

Though there were reports of Civic & Odyssey launch (in about 2 months) in 2004, it wasn't till July 2006 Civic was launched. Odyssey is yet to see the light

They would have to break showroom walls to display Odyssey.

I have driven Odyssey for more than 400 miles at a stretch, man what a car/MPV.
It's BRILLIANT!!

Honda should try n target the Innova with the Odyssey. If they get them in 2ltr Petrol and the 2.2 ctdi trim, it should do well.

The Innova itself is brilliant, can't imagine how good the Odyssey will be.

PS : Wonder what a Pete'd ctdi engine will be like. It's already got 140bhp to start with. LOL

Odyssey would be much much costlier than the Innova. How can they target Innova ? There is no plan for a diesel Odyssey.

Pricing can be an issue. How can they plonk in the 2L engine from CRV to a MUV that has to compete with Innova?

Maybe the 1.8 from Civic can do the job. 2.2 CTDi, will be pricey.
