Mahindra has extended its warranty program (Shield) by 2 years for the Bolero Power+ and Scorpio. With this, customers can now enjoy an uninterrupted warranty period of 7 years for the Bolero Power+ (coverage of 1,50,000 km) and Scorpio (coverage of 1,70,000 km).



Mahindra offers Shield as an in-house warranty programme. Some of the features of this programme:

• Coverage of mechanical or electrical failures including (but not limited to) engine parts, transmission system, cooling system, steering system, fuel system, suspension, electrical system (factory-fitted).
• Flexibility in terms of transfer of ownership
• Higher resale value
• One-time payment. Customers can also avail the facility of EMIs.

Mahindra claims that the extended Shield warranty will bolster the confidence of owners of the Scorpio and Bolero Power+ in their vehicles and allow them to retain them for a longer period.

The more than decade old Scorpios and Boleros getting 7 year warranties is alright, they don’t have any advanced features they are more mechanical.
If Mahindra offers the same in the tech-loaded XUV700, then it would actually mean something! And Mahindra can set that standard in the segment if they do so for the XUV700.

If Mahindra offers this on the XUV700, it's 200% my next car. Take the money already! I just won't care how quirky or overdone it would be. A 7-year warranty is a gamechanger. Bring it on! It's already being speculated that the pricing would be killer. This included, is just the icing on the cake.

While I would not call them advanced as the vehicle certainly cannot drive itself, Scorpio was fully loaded since a decade ago.

It had things like Cruise Control, TPMs, Auto headlamp, Auto Wipers, Parking sensors etc way ahead of others. Current model has even more kit including Android Auto, Apple car play, reverse camera, Automatic climate control, cornering lamps etc. In comparison to mainstream cars the features related to Traction control \ ESC are missing as well as Connected car Tech. It certainly isn't the only vehicle north of 20L without 6 airbags.

This extended warranty is going to bump up the used car prices and make some additional revenue for M&M as now you have to service it in their ASC for at least 7 years rather than 4\5 years earlier.

Great to see Mahindra joining the 7-year club . May this tribe only increase. Considering how modern cars age well & that most owners are keeping their cars for longer, it is a win-win situation. After all, Mahindra & its dealers also benefit from the car being maintained at the authorised dealer only.

On the other hand, it sucks that the 7-year option isn't offered on more complex cars like the XUV300, XUV500 etc.

Wait a bit, brother. Wait first for the reviews (no one knows how it will drive), TD it yourself (one man's meat can be another man's poison) and then, wait for a year or two IMHO. 1st & 2nd year builds of any brand new Mahindra product have issues. Sure, you'll get the extended warranty, but the niggles will still inconvenience you by taking up your time, breakdowns etc.

There are some aspects such 'Highly' Extended Warranty programs, which we should keep in mind:

1. Extended Warranty is not cheap. It costs a significant amount of money.

2. To claim Extended warranty, the vehicle needs to mandatorily serviced at authorized service centers only, and the user has to follow the service intervals religiously as well.
For low mileage users, and for users who prefer to service their cars at low cost FNGs, this will be counter-productive.

I am impressed that M&M gives this extended warranty for a workhorse model like Bolero knowing that it is abused to the core by the taxi segment and government. This will be my farm drive in the near future, considering this will last for easily for 10 years or even more and for 7 years it will be under M&M care. I would have liked a 4 door pick up Bolero rather like Isuzu. But nevertheless, kudos M&M to start this trend and sure others will try to emulate.

Right now it is standard warranty, you can purchase extended warranty later as long as the vehicle is serviced with M&M. Even after your standard warranty expires you can still purchase it within a certain period - as I did for my vehicle earlier.
