Any idea how I can go about this?

Hi Manudon,

I recently bought a Tata Nexon which is BH registered vehicle. It is registered in Pune (Maharashtra) and now I have to transfer the vehicle to Mysore (Karnataka).

As a government employee I fullfil the criteria for BH registration.

I contacted a RTO agent in Pune and he informed me that BH registered vehicles do not require NOC or CC during state transfer which is required in case of normal registered vehicles.

At present the vehicle is in Pune and next week I will get the delivery of the vehicle and further information I will update you.

Thank you.

Since the BH registered vehicle transfer of ownership is rare and still in the grey area, good to check the same with the RTO where the BH registration RC is issued from. If you are eligible for BH registration, you can get the documents verified at the RTO and then apply online for the vehicle ownership transfer. I am just guessing this as this seems to be the most appropriate way to get it down. Correct process would be shared by the local RTO only (unfortunately). Once the ownership transfer happens and is reflecting in Parivahan, the vehicle can be moved to Bangalore. I am not sure if Bangalore RTOs have started accepting BH registration process as yet.

Is there a BH series agent in MH who can handle the process. We are trying to get a Mahindra Scorpio registered under BH as we meet all the criteria but the RTO agents and dealer are asking for ridiculous documents that’s are not part of the normal requirement.
Hence need a person who can handle this easily and by the book for us.

Also, can a BH number be taken in a company name or only individual name?

Only company name as per my understanding. Not individual.

There is a separate thread on the recent challenges in MH pursuant to a new Feb circular. Apparently the court had struck it down but not sure if at a ground level there are still challenges in actioning.

Correction only individual registration not company. As individuals are the ones who move. Also checked with RTO when I did the BH for 2 vehicles

The BH series is available only for individuals, provided they work in a company with presence in 4+ states or work in Central government type of movable jobs. The RC is also issued in individual name and has no mention of any company whatsoever. The company provides details that a particular individual is its active employee and has GST registered offices in these many "X" states.

The MH government notification was struck down and there is hardly any hassle on the ground.

Sorry I meant to write exactly that - it’s for individual only. Not for company. Mistyped it inadvertently.

I’ve also got a BH registration in my individual name for my December 2023 car which I got registered in Mumbai. Basis the fact that my employer has offices in 4 states with 4 distinct GST numbers.

Was just talking to a sales executive from Jeep Showrooms in Banglore. He tells the whole change of ownership for a BH vehicle, only thing to do is to delink your Aadhaar and Pan from the system to the new buyer. And there is no change to registration number. He said nothing about the BH eligibility of the potential buyer. And only the Aadhaar, Pan and Address Proof is required of the new person. But then this is a huge hole in the entire process if the sale can me made this clean for a BH vehicle pan India. He is super sure of going for a BH and then no issues for a resale later. Still a lot of confusion.

Guys, I work in the Min of Defence in New Delhi which is a Central Govt Deptt with All India Service Liability (AISL). I'm going to retire next year. I'll be relocating to Nashik, MH. I intend to sell my existing Bike and Car sometime next year, buy both afresh, get BH nos and move to Nashik.
Now, when the time for renewal comes around after two years, what happens? Is it a simple on line procedure? If it is, will the renewal tax that Ill be paying two years hence sitting in Nasik, go to MH Govt or Delhi Govt?

As on date ,renewal is a simple system ,no documents are asked further and you pay the amount automatically populated in the system in online mode, sitting in comfort of home.

I vaguely remember there is an option of changing the state in which vehicle is plying.

By any chance has any member here tried this? I have 2 GJ01 registered cars that I would like to register under BH now since Telangana Police is harassing out of state vehicle owners and seizing vehicles.

Can anyone guide what's the process to do this? Will I get the road tax refunded (based on the remaining period out of the original 15 years) that I paid earlier to Ahmedabad RTO? Any help is appreciated!

Thank you for your inputs. Is there a cap on the no of vehicles? Can I get BH no for my car as well as the Bike?

I don’t believe there is any cap. A colleague of mine has BH for his bike as well as one of his cars. I have no doubt he could get it for more vehicles too if he wanted.

On a separate note, has anyone here either sold a BH vehicle or alternately bought a BH vehicle and subsequently converted it to a state regn number for the purpose of selling it. Any inputs as to how the cost was calculated for paying residual registration fees?

Thanks.

Hi Manudon,

I brought the vehicle to Mysore. On May 18, 2024 I visited RTO Mysore (KA-09). Initially the Astt. RTO refused to accept that there is a thing like ownership transfer of BH registered vehicles.

Later I gave them the final amendment copy of the Gazzett of Bharat registration. Then they asked me to came on Next Monday since then I visited around 4-5 times.

Today (08-07-2024) also I went to RTO Mysore west (KA-09). They asked me to meet Regional Transport Officer, she politely said that they only have guidelines to register only new vehicles under BH registration. They don't have any further information on transfer of ownership of BH registered vehicle especially from other states.

They suggested to write a mail to MORTH for clarification on the transfer of ownership of BH registered vehicle.

I will update you once I get more information.

Thank you.
