Earlier this week, Skoda announced the launch of the Rapid Matte Edition. Now, Volkswagen has introduced Matt Editions of the Polo and Vento.



The Polo GT Matt Edition costs Rs. 9.99 lakh. The Vento Matt Edition is available in two variants - Highline AT and Highline Plus priced at Rs. 11.94 lakh and Rs. 13.34 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.

The Polo and Vento Matt Editions are finished in a Carbon Steel Grey Matt colour with black ORVMs and door handles.

Both cars are powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that produces 108 BHP and 175 Nm. Both the Polo and Vento come with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The Matt edition of the Polo and Vento will come with Volkswagen standard 4EVER Care package which includes a 4-year standard warranty, 4-years roadside assistance and 3-free services as a standard.

Thought this Matt edition for Rapid was a kind of parting gift to customers given it might get discontinued post the new Sedan launch. Wonder why they are offering it for Polo then.

Wow, is the Vento still being sold! To be honest, Polo and Vento ads looks like a piece from history.

HOWEVER - These cars are still so good to drive with a good fan following!

Understandably, there are lot of talks going on in VW Showrooms that the Polo might be discontinued soon and VW would concentrate only on higher models. This occurred when we enquired to exchange VW Polo 1.2 TDI for VW Polo GT.

The Matt edition is available only with the auto transmission, in the Highline and the Highline Plus variant.

You know what happens when you make an old man wear a pair of new clothes? He still stays an old man. The current generation VW Polo in India launched 12 years ago. Let that sink in a bit. In the same time frame, the Swift had 3 different generations run on the road.

Whats next? Peacock green edition? Another IPL edition? Big boss edition? Bobby Darling edition? Dear VW, you maybe the largest manufacturer in the world, but in India, you are one manufacturer whose becoming nothing more than a troll as each day passes by. And this is coming from an Ex GT TSI owner.

I wonder if this is a wrap or is it a factory paint finish option? Majority of the service centres here are barely able to do a decent job with normal paint finishes.

I can only wonder what a nightmare it will be when the time comes to get your car repainted/rewrapped... I am also sure that VW service centres will not shy away from quoting you an even higher than normal price since your car is a 'limited edition'.

I'd rather get my car wrapped from a well-known place rather than having to deal with the idiots who call themselves 'customer relation' experts at VW

To my eyes, Vento has lines that will not allow it to look sporty, unlike the facelifted Rapid. So this matte finish is lost on Vento whereas the same looks way better on Rapid.

VW and there usual screw up’s. If you check the number plates in photos they are of old models
Polo is 1.2 GT Tsi and Vento is 1.5 Tdi which belonged to customers

How long will they milk these models. It's been like a decade, there are other better cars to launch in India. Why VW, why?

It's hard to believe the Polo and Vento are still being sold seeing as they're essentially the same model that was launched in 2009-10. They're going to be the next Sumo or Bolero at this rate.

I was at the VW dealer yesterday to fit a new windscreen and spent some time looking at the new cars there.
I saw the 2021 VW Polo and the latest ID3 and 4.
The Polo is a completely new car compared to the Indian models. I would imagine even the dashboard would be different.

Yup, this is the sixth generation of the Polo, the Mark VI which launched internationally in 2017. The one sold in India is the fifth generation or the Mark V which initially launched all the way back in 2009.

The current generation didn't launch in India as it's a little over 4 meters in length which attracts more than 50% in taxes as opposed to sub-4 meter vehicles.

Volkswagen India has trimmed the Vento range to merely three variants ahead of Virtus launch.



Vento now available in just one manual, two automatic TSI variants. Matte paint option still available at most outlets.

In this latest variant rejig, the company has limited the manual to just the Highline, priced at Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom, India), while the automatic range continues with the Highline and Highline Plus priced at Rs 13 lakh and Rs 14.44 lakh, respectively.
