I think the adventure was available earlier with a diesel option and perhaps you spotted that.

No DCEite the Adventure badge was not fake. It did come in Diesel. The same 1.9 power plant that is part of the Palio and Petra Diesels.

Good list, but a few missing.

Chevrolet Captiva
Maruti Swift Dzire Diesel
Hyundai Accent (with TUD5 diesel engine, now discontinued )
Ford Escort Diesel ( now discontiuned )

As the starter of the thread has mentioned Tata Indica and Tata Indigo independently, I added Maruti Swift Dzire Diesel.

I saw an M800 in Bangalore recently, it had a "1.0 Diesel" sticker at the back. The sound of the engine confirmed to me that it was a diesel engine Dont know which engine, wanted to ask him but he sped away
@gopz:
Till 2001, when really the emession norms became difficult, people brought 1.0 ltr Daihatsu ( sorry if spelling is wrong ) diesel engine and it was an easy fit for 800. This engine ocassionaly found way into Premier Padminis also and very rarely into Gypsy.

I had seen a Maruti 800 with a Daihatsu engine in Bangalore.I think it was a 3 cylinder engine and it was very noisy.The owner told me that it gives a mileage of around 30.

This engine is knwon to be very fuel efffecient specially with the light weight body of 800, and can peak 24-26 during stable highway stints. It was one thing we wanted to do in 1998 after we saw such conversion in A'bad. We were really attarcted towards it, but noise was unbearable. Decided to continue with petrol and now we have CNG.

30 is a very high figure, but the effeciency was simply mindboggling.
