The VW group had to either differentiate their product based on quality and then demand a price premium OR undercut competitor's pricing and provide slightly inferior quality product (relative to their standards). They have messed up badly.
Yes, initial niggles (major one) may have affected the sales but the fact of the matter for lower sales numbers is the absence of diesel from their entire line-up! 60% of Creta sales come from the 1.5L diesel, for the Seltos IIRC it's 53%. Now in International markets the TDIs continue to be offered but I don't see the 1.5L TDI on offer anywhere. A company can only manage these numbers with two petrol engines unless you're Maruti Suzuki!

I was about to ask the same, 17 karoq out of the blue, I would have picked one if I knew the stock was present.

I seriously wish these people rot without having any exciting motorcycles or scooters with the same engine & grinding new stickers or paint job every year calling it new model. Activa is now more than a donkey year old, the old Splendor is still the (rotten) bread & (stinking) butter, it's high time for reinventing the market!!

The JV deals with BMW & Triumph is not doing any justice; and when someone is trying to making a significant change in the industry, they make a mockery calling it breakfast meal!!

Re: October 2021 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Well, this was expected.
All those prospective customers who were on the verge of buying a vehicle made their purchase in 2020 fueled mostly by need for personal transport so as to avoid catching Covid.

This slowdown in also a good thing. Fuel is expensive, raw material is expensive, finished goods are expensive. Let the prices cool down. Ever since the pandemic everyone has an excuse to hike prices willy-nilly leading to double digit inflation.

I hope the squeeze continues, there are only so many people in this poor country who can afford vehicles and thanks to covid, the pool has shrunk.

FADA Survey on Inventory at the end of October’21

- Average inventory for Passenger Vehicles ranges from 10-15 days
- Average inventory for 2W ranges from 40-45 days

FADA says 2021 has been the worst festive season for auto dealers in a decade with the chip shortage in PVs and low demand for 2-wheelers hitting sentiment.

Re: October 2021 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Why is the s presso selling by such average numbers going by Maruti standards? Now I know selling 4k units per month for a single model is a dream for many other manufacturers but considering Maruti econoboxes usually sell well past the 10k mark every month, maybe the design is too extreme for prospective buyers? Wagon R and Alto is easily managing 10k+ mark.
