The Volkswagen Taigun is based on the MQB-A0-IN platform. In Mexico, the car is sold as the T-Cross.

The VW T-Cross is offered in three variants: Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. Unlike the Indian version, the T-Cross is powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine that produces 108 BHP and 155 Nm. The engine is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Boy would I love to sit inside this car and see if it has the the typical VW-ness that we see missing in the sold-in-India Taigun.

Re: Volkswagen Taigun exports commence from India

If the Chakan/Aurangabad plant can make them then I hope VW India at least considers offering some of these iterations to Indian consumers barring the region specific requirements e.g. heated seats etc.

Taigun/T-Cross are quite capable cars and I'm sure that Indian consumers would appreciate more engine options and other features etc. I am sure VAG being the giant that they are would have the access to the required resources to offer these iterations of the car to Indian consumers as well e.g. emissions norms etc.

But yet amazing to see how the VAG India unit has been export oriented for a while now! Kudos to the team!

Re: Volkswagen Taigun exports commence from India

For everyone's information, VW Taigun has already been available in Nepal since December 2021. On pricing, it marginally sits above Kushaq. I've a seen quite a few in my city, mostly in silver color. It appears more of a larger version of Polo 1.6 but with a quite busy rear. It may overtake the sales of Kushaq later on because VW has a better brand recall here than Skoda.

Made-in-India LHD Volkswagen T-Cross for Mexico: gets six airbags and AEB as standard. Will it follow on the footsteps of its big brother the Taos in Latin NCAP?

What a lovely shade of blue that Taigun is in. Why are we getting such limited options in shades in India?

Re: Volkswagen Taigun exports commence from India

Made in India 'T Cross' launched in Mexico as ' 2023 T Cross face-lift'.

- Volkswagen T-Cross grew both in length and height, +22mm and +4mm, respectively, and against the model produced in Brazil.

- It maintains the width of 1.7 m and the wheelbase of 2.6 m, which confirms that it is only a matter of aesthetics and not structural design, because it maintains the MQB architecture.

- Aesthetic novelties in the redesigned bumpers, new grille and LED headlights. There is also a sliding sunroof, depending on the version.

-Complemented by the presence of new controls for climatronic, synthetic leather seats, 10" screen with Wire and Wireless App Connect, wireless charger for smartphones, 8" digital display and 385 liters of load capacity.

-The engine remains the 1.0 TSI that 114 Hcvcoupled to a 6-speed Tiptronic gearbox.

-In terms of safety, the Mexican model imported from India has six airbags; stability controls; tire pressure control; active starting system; frontal collision assistant; autonomous emergency braking; rear camera and sensors.

The T-Cross will have a TSI engine of the input version (Trendline), in which will also be offered the 1.6 MPI engine of 110 hp.

The 2022 model is offered in 4 versions: Volkswagen T-Cross Trendline TSI: $ 419,990 pesos (R$ 99,500) - ~ INR 1607326

Volkswagen T-Cross Comfortline TSI: $449,990 pesos ($106,000); ~ INR 1712327

Volkswagen T-Cross Highline TSI: $484,990 pesos ($115,000); ~ INR 1857713

Volkswagen T-Cross Tendline MPI: would arrive at less than $400,000 pesos (US$94,700) by the end of 2022. ~ INR 1529787

Re: Volkswagen Taigun exports commence from India

Volkswagen T-Cross changes name in Mexico and goes to be called Taigun.

Model is sold in the country with units imported from India and different design from the Brazilian version.

Interestingly, Volkswagen reports that the Brazilian T-Cross will return to Mexico after a year, but with a differentiated offer. That is, from now on it will be marketed only to fleet owners, in simpler versions, and always equipped with aspirated 1.6 engine.
