The Gypsy is based on the old Jimny.

This is a thread from back in 2004, but my god! Who would have guessed we had an image SO close to what the Tata Nano would actually look like on our forum all this while!

Probably this concept was initial outcome of the study for a cheap car.

Seeing the above pic, we can proudly mention that TBHP is the witness and homeground of all the scoops. And if you feel that you might have seen a car somewhere before, this is the place.

Just came across this thread that happens to be one of the oldest thread belonging to the year when teambhp came online.
Wow! It has reference to TATA Aria and today TeamBHP came first in posting Aria's review by GTO. Good going TBHP.
And finally, some of the cars(or similar cars) did see the light of the day in India. Aria has undergone a complete makeover by the time of its birth. Only the name is same.

Tata Aria

"The market is small for a sports car in India but the Aria would be very attractive in the international market. We are looking for a location to manufacture this even outside India'', Mr Tata said. There were a number of issues to be sorted out before the Aria could be productionised such as whether the body should be in steel or fibre glass. Plans for launch of the Magna, a premium segment sedan which was displayed at the last Auto Expo in 2000, appear to have been put on the backburner. Mr Tata said: "There are a number of players in that segment now. We will wait for the dust to settle in the market and will take a decision at an appropriate time.''

It was in 9 th standard school annual vacations when I saw the Kazwa manufactured by KMPL (kajah motors private Ltd) , one of my relative stay close to kajhas and is a good friend of kajhas too. Actually he bought the 1 st kazwa after the film actor mammoty and the kajah family members. That kazwa was there with our family for more than 1 year , then the mechanical problem aroused and eventually it was taken back by kmpl. That was a fantastic car, the body was quite tough, the seating was awesome and was a well build van in fact. All the sold kazoos were taken back by the company and money refunded. After some time kmpl came up with a tata ace like 4 wheeler , it was the time when the bajaj tempo and goods carrier auto rickshaws were ruling the segment , but the introduction of the 4 wheeler ltv was not made so public I guess, still on road I used to see the kmpl 4 wheeled ltv , but now the production is stopped. I think the model name is kmpl tiger. They didn't come up with the small car, one of the manufacturing facility is 15 kms away from my home and it is a converted tile factory, and the company board is still there.my cousin who live close by have tild me that once they made an experimental super car on a contessa platform

The kajhas also have around 168 rare classic collections in an in house facility attached to their residence.

There is a review about, Kazwa - Kajah motor car in last month's Autocar or Overdrive. The car is currently in pune and is being used by a Kajah relative and claims to be running fine after 10 years. But the catch of the article is that, Kazwa came in 1998, when there were no qualises or innova or even the Toyota motor company. the author appreciates the foresight of the manufacturer Kajah, about a segment which had so much potential and tried their hands on so early.

Kudos to Kajah. they tried a shot, successful or not, they are the first ones who came up with a 7 seater, all bucket seat, diesel MPV, when there was no such segment at all.

Tata Aria launched now is actually the Tata Xover displayed in 2005 at the Geneva Motor Show. They have borrowed the name from a different concept.
You can find the pictures of both the cars here-

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...cept-cars.html

They have infact retained most of the design cues of the Xover in the actual production model.

Rajah Motors seems to have had very good foresight for having launched an Ace segment vehicle and an MPV before any of the major manufacturers entered. We all know how these two segments have literally caught fire later on. Unfortunate for them that they couldn't capitalize.

IMO, this is still quite a beauty. It has some sweet roadster looks. I won't hesitate to take this beauty home if TATA launches this @ price 1-2L more than that of manza.

TATA, are you listening?

Sonalika EVO 'World car', the Pininfarina-designed SUV Coupe that never saw the light of day.

The Sonalika EVO was supposed to launch in 2012 for a little above INR 10 lakh. But ICML’s investors thought otherwise. In October 2012, Sonalika sold a 12.5% stake in ITL for $100 million (around Rs 520 crore) to US-based private equity player Blackstone Group.

It is believed that Blackstone really did not want Sonalika to pursue its passenger car dream and wanted it to concentrate on its tractor business.
