According to a media report, Kia is looking to streamline the production process. That being said, the company has ruled out the need for a new production line, as the additional capacity could be managed with efficiency enhancement.

At present, Kia's Anantapur factory has an installed capacity of 3 lakh units, which is being fully utilized in three shifts. Rising domestic sales and exports have prompted the carmaker to find ways to ramp up capacity.

Kia currently has a 6% market share in the Indian passenger car segment. The carmaker is said to have produced over 5 lakh vehicles in India. It has exported over 1 lakh units to date, making it one of the leading exporters in the country.

Re: Kia India to ramp up production capacity to 4 lakh units

This is impressive from a new entrant like Kia. The Indian car market is full of opportunities when proper market research is done before launching any new product.

Right now if any new entrant launches a mass-market EV within 10 lacs with the size equivalent to Baleno/Altroz then it's surely going to capture a good market share from urban commuters.
