2023 Range Rover Sport priced at Rs. 1.64 crore in India

Land Rover unveiled the next-generation Range Rover Sport earlier this week. The carmaker has now listed the SUV on its Indian website with a starting price of Rs 1.64 crore (ex-showroom).

In India, the Range Rover Sport is offered in four trims: SE, HSE, Autobiography and First Edition. Land Rover is expected to open the order books later this year while deliveries could commence in November 2022.

The 2023 Range Rover Sport is based on the MLA-Flex architecture. The SUV looks familiar but has a longer wheelbase compared to the outgoing version. The front still features a sporty look albeit with a slimmer radiator grille and headlamps. The minimalistic design continues on to the side. The car now gets flush-fitting door handles.

A lot has changed on the rear of the car. The slim LED tail lamps sit flush into the bodywork. The rear bumper has a black skid plate and twin rectangular exhaust tips.

Inside, the new Range Rover Sport comes with a 13.1-inch touchscreen with the Pivi Pro infotainment system, a 13.7-inch digital instrument cluster and a new 3-spoke steering wheel. The SUV also gets a ClearSight IRVM, 22-way power-adjustable seats with massage function, dynamic air suspension and Terrain Response 2 with adaptive off-road cruise control.

At present, the Range Rover Sport has been listed with a single 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder diesel engine. This engine develops 345 BHP and 700 Nm and comes paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Land Rover could introduce its hybrid and V8 versions at a later date.

2023 Range Rover Sport ex-showroom prices:

  • Dynamic SE - Rs 1.64 crore
  • Dynamic HSE - Rs 1.71 crore
  • Autobiography - Rs 1.81 crore
  • First Edition - Rs 1.84 crore

Not that I could afford one but Team-BHP was suggesting this related article:

2021 Range Rover & Range Rover Sport priced from Rs. 88.24L

Source: https://www.team-bhp.com/news/2021-r...riced-rs-8824l

100% price increase in 2 years? I had to open the article to double check.

I believe these are prices of 3 liter diesel. In the article you linked the SE 3 liter diesel starts at 1.23 crore and now "equivalent-ish" the SE dynamic 3 liter starts at 1.64 crore. Not quite the 100% increase but still 40 lakhs.
Funnily enough Autobiography variant was priced at 1.72 crore which is now 1.81 crores. VFM?

I still remember the Dragon challenge by the last Range Rover, and now this, which is again a benchmark, hats off to the RR team.

High time Tata lives up to its India pride and starts manufacturing the Sport and Vogue here. If priced better both these models could do much better numbers.

Its not the pricing that's an issue for the company, its their reliability. Even celebrities have ditched the brand these days despite James Bond promotion.

Range Rover has serious reliability issues and I would think twice, thrice and then 4 times again before putting that kind on money to buy one.

Service is also below par.

Does this FTA mean that Sport’s price is going to be significantly revised?

Re: 2023 Range Rover Sport priced at Rs. 1.64 crore in India

If my brain cells are working right, RR Sport (2.0) was retailing for 85-90 odd lakhs Ex showroom in India, just 8-9 months ago. Yes, it's a 3L version but still, the price hike is hard to digest.
What's going on with pricing of all luxury vehicles in India. With this rate, we will soon outplace Singapore, for most expensive cars.

Guess, Lux car makers have realized that Market size is not growing as projected, however they can still maintain the projected profits by milking the 'money no object' class.

...And I am surprised at the size and aspirations of the hitherto dormant "money no object" class in India.

1. Where were they till now?
2. How are they suddenly splurging so much on cars- unreliable or not?
3. Why did luxury cars not sell when sensibly priced but now sell when they are atrociously priced?
4. Where's the money coming from, given to believe that black money is at an all-time low and India's growth story is also not really distributed?
5. Last question- where's the recession??

Spare a thought for the "poor" luxury car makers. All they had to do to sell their products well in India was to unreasonably hike prices

It was always over a Crore, and you could choose only some options on the base. This was due to lower 60% duties on 40K-USD CBU.

What has changed now is Parent companies of most manufacturers are no longer keen to give cheaper prices internally. So, it makes little sense to import in 4 cylinders. If we compare the older generation, six cylinders and the current, differences will be less noticeable.

With the introduction of new CAFE norms and the penalties from 1st April, I won't be surprised if many cars are axed completely from our market.

This is from today

While the average corporate CO2 emission limit for Indian carmakers has been fixed at 113gm per km, each company will have their individual limits based on number of cars sold and mix of fuel type — petrol, diesel, hybrid, CNG, or electric. The Rs 25,000 fine will kick in if the fleet CO2 emission for a company is higher by 0-4.7%. If fleet CO2 emission is higher than 4.7gm, then penalty will be Rs 50,000 per unit sold

Sorry for going OT.

I wonder if a 25k or 50k fine be a deterrent for a luxury car seller (and buyer). They could build this fine into the list price per model. A buyer paying a Crore wouldn't mind the 0.5% extra.

Or am I missing anything?
