Rumour: Toyota Innova Crysta to be sold alongside next-gen model

Current Toyota Innova Crysta to be sold alongside next-gen model.

Quote:
- Will continue with diesel engine and ladder chassis
- Likely to be targeted more at fleet services than private buyers
Quote:
Innova Crysta to be positioned alongside new model, not below it
Quote:
Targeted at private owners, and this could mean a re-jig of its model range, with some of the top-end variants with premium features removed.
Quote:
The existing Innova will be given a small visual makeover to help increase its appeal to new buyers.

Re: Next-generation Toyota Innova spotted in India

As far as I remember, similar rumours were floating around when the Innova Crysta was being introduced. Will definitely take this piece of information with a pinch of salt.

But on the other hand, this Innova is going to be radically different from the outgoing one. New FWD Platform, Petrol Hybrid Powertrain. Let's see what happens.

ACI’s quality of scoops of information, has gone down drastically in the recent times.

Just yesterday, they were saying the Hybrid Innova is going to be placed below the Innova Crysta, why the sudden change of mind! Just for website clicks, posting wrong information, which no one has confirmed.

And ACI, general public and auto-enthusiasts all know how Toyota’s HQ is, they won’t allow two cars with the same name (even if the car is different) to be sold in the market.

We saw it with the highly successful Qualis in 2005, and then again in 2016 with the Innova.

I won’t be surprised if the Innova Crysta gets discontinued just a few months after the launch of the Hybrid Innova.

Say hello to the INR 40 lakh Innova
The Crysta will go up to 30-32, and the hybrid will be above that.

With the risk of sounding like a broken tape recorder, I do believe that it will be two different models. They will split the Innova lineup into two. The new hybrid one will have some sort of new prefix/suffix.

The BoF one will continue to be called as the Innova Crysta.

Wouldn't be too sure abou that. Remember that Innova Crysta, Fortuner and Hilux sit on the same platform, and if they discontinue the bottom most model out Toyota cant enjoy the profits from the other two due to low scale of production.

Yes. This is the most logical thing to do. 30L OTR for the Petrol Innova right now. I expect the new hybrid one to come with the 2.5 L petrol and CVT that does duty in Camry and the battery pack, power management unit, some basic electronic aids like lane departure warning, bling spot warning, etc etc. Everything short of the Radar based applications. That 5 lakhs for that, and then add the Toyota Tax. Bingo we are looking at 40 Lakhs for the top end version. There may be a few lower trims taking the entry level one to 36-37 OTR.

Start saving Boyz n' gals !!

According to my friend who works in Toyota the upcoming car is not under the Innova badge. Also, there is no plan to stop the current Innova Crysta in the near future.

I will try to get more information on the upcoming car from him.

Re: Rumour: Toyota Innova Crysta to be sold alongside next-gen model

Looks very likely that the hybrid will hit the 40L mark. One benchmark is of course the Camry which costs similar. The other proxy is Honda City.

The non-hybrid City ZX costs 15L while the top model Innova comes at double the price of around 30L. Given the hybrid city has seen a 5L jump, quite likely that the same ratio will now apply to Innova taking it to the 40L mark. Only question now is whether this will be the on-road or ex-showroom price.

“HiCross” is the name picked for the new model. I suppose it was picked instead of Highlander as the name was already taken by Mitsubishi. The proposed model is a cross over, hence it being the Highlander or RAV4 is quite high. Fingers crossed.

Hybrid 2.5 CVT won’t be priced cheaper than the Camry IMO.

Why can't they call it "Toyota Innova Laura"

They won't have to market it as a new model, which is the same as last gen model, but new

Re: Rumour: Toyota Innova Crysta to be sold alongside next-gen model

Considering the pricing trend of Innova line-up, I (Assume I am Toyota Product Planning ) would have definitely added a couple of medium MPV/SUV to fill the gap between current urban cruiser and Innova Crysta. Maye be the upcoming Ertiga based MPV + Another SUV of similar size. For a basic reference RAV4 is 4.6 meters long/Rush is 4.4 meters long compared to 4.7m of Crysta
