I'll be upset if this skoda really does come soon --- as I wouldn't have bought the swift.

But, hey! I needed the car now, not whenever...

CrAzY dRiVeR is quite right about the Skoda brand. Despite being, I think, the oldest European car brand, it was seen, for many years, as being almost as bad as a Russian Lada. Like: How do you double the value of a skoda? Put petrol in it!

I think it must have been when it became part of the VAG group that it started making tough, well-built cars.

But this is still true: if you can't afford an Audi, you buy a VW. If you can't afford a VW --- you buy a Skoda. Although many ask why the VW owners are paying a premium for a different name on a car that is, in many ways, identical to the Skoda!

But Premium? No. Audi is a premium car.

Skoda is premium in India because of our tax-structure. What a Skoda Laura costs in India, can be compared to a base-level Audi in North America atleast.

In India The Skoda is a luxury car.

Well... I have been in the rear seat of Skoda Rider.
There was absolutely no luxury in there.

May be Fabia is a luxury car - because it's coming with a 3 cylinder engine!!!

off topic : SKoda is a luxury car becase if you compare what built quality, what engineering quality you get from Skoda it is better than the current crop of cars.

And we talking about Skoda being a non-luxury car abroad, mercs are taxis in some countries, the corolla is a taxi worldwide. but still here it is a luxury car (or entry level luxury car).

And if skoda had tough times in its mid phase, before Vag BOUGHT it, too bad, but you cant take it away from them that they make the most 'customer satisfying' cars. all skoda customers are full of praises for them. So they charging a preimum for all of that is justified.

I second that. My neighbour is all praise for the Skoda Octavia that he bought first. The next car he bought after six months is again a Skoda, of course Laura. He is satisfied very well the performance of the car, that he booked again a Fabia. I must say, he is a very satisfied Skoda customer.:Cheering:

Hi,
My neibhour today told me that bookings for Skoda Fabia started (hyderabad) and would cost around 7-8 lakhs.

well, since skoda india, has priced the fabia at a huge premium over other hatches, i think, they might have dropped the pan of bringing in the 1.2l engine.

So lets hope for the best and pray that skoda, launches the 1.6l engine. :Cheering:

Yes. Sad...if it did not sound like sarcasm...

BTW, if it's really a 3-cylnder engine, why is it being so much talked about at T-BHP? Or is Auto India's info incorrect?

All those "previledged" existing Skoda owners, can you educate "general public"?

Are you guys queuing up for a 3-cylinder????

BUTTTT we are talking in India . With all due respect to your point ;)

Luxury or no luxury it is surely a very well built car. Drives very well, great FE - the only downside is the relatively expensive maintainence cost.

In my opinion, engine is just one part of the car. It is the car as a whole which matters. The power delivery, ride, handling and interiors, along with the engine. Even the Accent CRDI was a 3 cylinder engine if I am not wrong.

If Skoda can provide a good engine with around 75 to 80 horses with 3 cylinders, why not? I do not have any information about what they have in mind for India yet, so, I am not going to comment about their offering now. Let us see what Skoda has to offer to India in terms of Fabia.
