Some Maruti Suzuki dealerships have reportedly started accepting bookings for the upcoming Swift CNG. Customers are being charged a token amount of Rs 11,000.

The Maruti Swift CNG will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine. This engine produces 89 BHP and 113 Nm when running on petrol, but on CNG, the overall output is expected to drop to 76 BHP and 98.5 Nm. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Maruti will offer the factory-fitted CNG kit on select variants of the Swift. They are likely to receive a similar set of features that are offered in the respective petrol variants.

The Swift CNG is also likely to receive a few tweaks to the suspension and brakes, to cope with the added weight of the CNG tank. The car will also get inter-dependent ECUs.

re: Maruti Swift CNG bookings open unofficially. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 7.77 lakh

The only concern with Swift on CNG can again be the case which is there with Dzire. Both have circular fuel filler caps with very little space to fit in filling nozzle inside the fuel filler cap.

This can mean they will fit the filling nozzle and the CNG plate outside on the car body making it look ugly and giving it after market fitment appearance.

I sincerely hope MS has found a workaround to package it inside somehow.

Re: Maruti Swift CNG bookings open unofficially. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 7.77 lakh

Swift Vxi petrol starts at 6.81L and Zxi petrol starts at 7.48 L ( ex showroom; source: Carwale). So roughly 1 lakh premium for CNG, similar to what Hyundai and Tata charge for their CNG variants. Since Maruti has been doing this for a long time, combined with their class leading 1.2Na engines, should be a good combo. Waiting for a proper first drive review by Teambhp

Re: Maruti Swift CNG bookings open unofficially. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 7.77 lakh

Just saw a video on YouTube with the Swift CNG in a dealer yard.

Hugely disapointed with the position of CNG filling valve. It is on the driver side rear!! Along with the ugly CNG plate outside on the body. In Dzire it is on the passenger side rear next to the petrol lid. Get ready for confusions on the CNG pumps with attendents asking you to move here and there.

Not sure what MS is doing, the cheaper hatchbacks Celerio,Wagon R, Alto have them placed inside petrol lid but so called premium offerings are getting the valve placed outside on the body, giving cab looks.

The spare tire also they could not place under the cylinder and it is placed alongside the cylinder giving it complete retrofit look!

Tata has done much better job placing tires in their original postions in both Tiago and Tigor CNG variants!
