You are right, DDiS is a common rail engine like CRDi, CRDe etc.
But 'for gods sake' multijet is developed by FIAT but licensed to General Motors as part of a settlement of the failed merger between the two auto conglomerates. And suzuki has obtained license from Fiat for using/manufacturing this engine part of their partnership with GM and FIAT.
Sorry for going offtopic.

Sivadas,
The JTD technology is co-owned by both GM and FIAT. See the press release issued while revoking the termination of the partnership.

Rajesh, most people who have ordered Swift Diesel and SX4 due to the longer waiting periods are shifting over to the purchase of the Swift Petrol. Hence the waiting period.

@Mclaren - While the customers may be switching, the waiting period has more to do with the fact that Swift Petrol, Diesel and the SX4 all share a platform and they can only make a fixed number of cars a month. I heard that there are plans to introduce an extra shift in the plant, but may not happen immediately.

Waiting period here in Chennai is 2 months for Petrol variant and 3 months for Diesel varaint. News came from Reliable sources that nothing could be done on this waiting period. One option is to re-route the canceled order subjected to our approval of variant and color.

Maruti built its Manesar engine factory at a cost of 2500 crores and they were giving a figure of 100,000 engines per year
Is this 100,000 numbers talks only about Swift?

I read somewhere in this forum that Swift overall monthly sales is 3500+. Then the annual sales accounts to only 42k cars per annum.

See this information from Maruti monthly Sales Report released in July 2:

The constraint in availablility of SX4 and Swift was compounded during the month in view of the week-long scheduled maintenance shutdown of the plants. The supply henceforth is likely to improve.

As nitrous pointed out a good number of these are being exported.

You are right my friend . I see you are putting in a lot of effort trying to post without mentioning Fabrica Italiano Automobili Torino these days. Keep it up, I am proud of you .

No, its actually the 3rd. No wait, 4th? I guess 5th. My god I am loosing count now.

Kuttapan, plans to make an extra shift are just that. Plans. Like philjo said, production MAY have shut down for a week, which will hopefully get better this month.

Though he is worried about resale, my friend is actively considering U-VA now.
I had driven UV-A and found it generally good. Back seats are great, gear shift is not bad, GC is better than swift, boot space is better. What about mileage? Does U_VA really give better mileage than Swift? Not sure how much we can believe this, but as per ACI it is the other way.

I am in a similar situation. I have booked the swift and its been almost 3 weeks. I am trying to get influence ( like all govt places ) to get my car. I will wait for this week and if there is no hope I will cancel the booking and go for Palio or U-VA.
People in sagar automobiles where I booked the car say minimum 60days for any delivery to happen. Thinking now if there is no sales why do I worry abt A.S.S
Guys please give me honest opinion abt U-VA mainly for FE.
