I would highly recommend waiting till January end, the Auto Expo will clear it out. The dealers at times are bound to sell the existing vehicles as they too have targets to meet! If you're too sceptical, book one of the vehicles, they anyway have a long waiting period just to be on the safer side.

Yeah I am waiting for the Auto Expo to get done as a lot of cars we are considering should be updated by then (Harrier, Hector, Seltos, Creta)
Of these only the MG and some Hyundai dealers are even acknowledging the presence of a facelift.

All of this begs a question though- if the Creta really is to be showcased at the Expo like most folks here, and auto journalists, are saying, then why hasn’t a single test mule of the facelift been spotted? I have a feeling they may do the following-
- Launch the current versions of the Creta, Seltos, Alcazar, Carens with the new 1.5 turbo starting April ‘23 to comply with BS6- II (because test mules for these have been sighted).
- Import the Indonesian Creta facelift model just for the expo, and thereafter start testing the Indian version of it and launch it around Q3 ‘23 or later.

I believe at least Seltos mule was spotted testing in India earlier this year

Re: Rumour: Hyundai & Kia SUVs could get 1.5L turbo-petrol engine

I think since BS 6 part 2 applicable from April and rumour mill saying 1.5 turbo will be introduced as 1.4 turbo is not complaint, facelift should come before April.

An engine change which is more powerful than 1.4 would perfectly compliment a Facelift.

It doesn’t make sense to first introduce a powerful engine and then few months down the line introduce facelift.

Exactly it doesn't make sense to have a powerful engine and a facelift launch at different timings. Hyundai already have a busy year with refreshments across portfolio except Creta.
Creta facelift will only come next year along with turbo petrol.

Any change expected for the KIA 1.5 Diesel Unit. I’m looking at this for a replacement around this April.

So this engine is now more powerful than the petrol engine in the Tucson?

The biggest issue with Alcazar was the weak headlights and fog lamp setup. This made many customers to buy other cars. I hope Hyundai have worked on it this time !

Re: Rumour: Hyundai & Kia SUVs could get 1.5L turbo-petrol engine

Looks to be a good package now. Powerful + Spacious + Hyundai ASS.
The front grille looks far better than the previous one.
But my taste buds still fail to digest the headlight design.

And I fail to understand one thing.
Is there any technical limitation why one should not give proper Torque converters with these Turbo-petrols.
Why should they all be mapped to DCTs ?
I know there is VW 1.0 TSi + TC & other Luxury brands using Turbo petrol + TC.
And why is DCTs being promoted despite them not having good reputation, at least in Indian conditions.

This should address the issue of Alcazar being an underpowered car. Good call by Hyundai. I hope the 1.6T+Hybrid setup comes on the Tucson as well now.

.
These modern turbo petrols provide superb performance but are highly sensitive to throttle inputs with regards to fuel efficiency. It is difficult to get consistently good FE with these cars.

As such, they play to their strengths. DCT means more emphasis on performance and lesser compromise on fuel efficiency, vis a vis torque converters. This also allows them to offer more gears while keeping the costs down. More gears = lower rpm at speed, which means better highway cruising efficiency and easier emission compliance. 7 speed DCTs are commonplace, but torque converters of more than 6 speeds are only there in expensive luxury cars. Torque converters with equivalent gears are simply more expensive, bigger and heavier.

The reliability factor has a lot to do with the fact that the two most popular DCT systems, from Hyundai and VW, use a dry clutch. Wet clutch DCTs have proven to be much more adept at handling our hot and dusty conditions.
