This looks very similar to Hyundai casper - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyundai_Casper. Initially this was supposed launched by Hyundai but then came Exter - which appears to have very different body shell. Not sure if this mid SUV between Sonet & Seltos is going to be Kia Cousin of exter or a completely new product based on Casper. If it is indeed based on Casper then they'll have increase its dimensions to put it above Sonet.

Kia Clavis spotted in Gurugram.

The launch is scheduled towards the end of 2024 with Petrol engine coming in 1st followed by an EV.

Rumour has it that a Hybrid alternative is also in works.

While some media reports say that Clavis is positioned between Seltos and Sonet, I can't figure out what is the space in between. The only significant change in dimensions is the length, besides of course the engines. A car in the Punch / Exter segment would bring in some additional sales numbers for Kia. Otherwise it will only cannibalize both Seltos and Sonet sales.

I somehow doubt this claim of theirs. It makes absolutely no sense to get an offering in between these two.

The top-end Sonet is already touching 19 Lacs in some states which overlaps with the mid-specs Seltos.

Apparently , the Clavis will be offered as a 'lifestyle' vehicle as per some media reports. I wonder if at all there is a market for such vehicles in this price bracket.

While fully camouflaged, one can easily notice the tall, boxy profile of the SUV. Clavis could be around 4.2 meters long, which is comparable to Kia Soul.
Some of the key highlights of Kia Clavis include vertically positioned headlamps and DRLs, clamshell bonnet, flared wheel arches, flush-type door handles, 17-inch sporty alloy wheels, functional roof rails, vertically-positioned tail lamps and a full-width LED light bar.
Windows are quite large, which should allow panoramic views for passengers. The overall silhouette seems to follow the contours of Kia’s flagship electric offering, EV9. With the tall, boxy profile, Kia Clavis will have a strong road presence.


As Kia is looking at an electrified future, it is likely that Clavis will be offered with both ICE and EV powertrain options. The ICE versions are expected to be launched first, followed by the EV model.

True that. As someone who has hopped back into a sedan after driving a boxy CSUV, I feel they represent a refreshing change. It is noteworthy that the current mid size sedans are well rated on the Safety front.

What will be Kia STYROS, as it is trademarked in India.

The IC-engined Kia Clavis could carry the production name Kia Syros as it has been trademarked in India. Kia has endured tremendous success with the Seltos and Sonet in India and adding another volume-based SUV will only make sense but no official details are available yet. The Kia Syros is expected to feature a familiar 1.2L four-cylinder petrol engine.
