The 5,00,000th unit of the Nexon has rolled out of Tata Motors' Pune factory. According to the company, the last 1 lakh units were produced in just 7 months.



The Tata Nexon is one of the most popular models in the carmaker's product portfolio. It was first launched in 2017 and has since received a few updates. However, the crossover is due to receive a major facelift soon.

The Nexon is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. These include a 1.2-litre petrol engine that makes 118 BHP and 170 Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel that puts out 108 BHP and 260 Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and AMT.

The updated Nexon is expected to get Curvv-inspired styling with a sleek LED light bar up front and several other changes all around. Inside, the car will get a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a new 2-spoke steering wheel.

Wonderful achievement / milestone for Nexon and Tata motors

Moderator GTO often used to remark something like "A good car is enough to turn around the sagging fortunes of an automaker". Nexon (and to some extent Tiago) have done that to Tata Motors in the past 5 years. Hope they continue to grow.

Half a million units in ~6 years is a significant number and it is truly a commendable feat from Tata. Right from the outset, Nexon has been a compelling package, with each new iteration/facelift, it only got better- looks, features and most importantly reliability. The current version is a looker especially when viewed head-on. IMO, Nexon(EV excluded) is by far the best product in the entire Tata line-up. If not for Tata's lacklustre after sales service, at least 50-75k more Nexons would have easily found new homes.
