Re: Where do you go for a drive to unwind?

I enjoy countryside be it on my car or while riding !!

However we do need to travel sometimes on highways to reach our destination, so I love my route to be scenic and at the same time less traffic too. For these reasons I mostly travel during mornings.

And hey!! the trip is never complete without trying some nice food and refreshing chai

B-roads it is!

These roads just make the drive absolutely worth its weight in gold. A good handling car and such a road brings out the purest form of driving appeal. I also like to drive these without music or conversations, preferably alone or otherwise with never more than two in the car. I can state quite honestly that it is only for these roads that I own a car.

Re: Where do you go for a drive to unwind?

When I was posted at Silchar (2013-2017) we had HORRIBLE HORRIBLE roads then.
The only guilty pleasure was the drive from City to Airport which was around 25kms through scenic locales but still bad roads.
Sometimes I would drive 20kms to Badarpur from Silchar very early morning which was slightly less bad road but greenery all around. Small consolations.

Nothing like a wide open stretch of highway for me. I recently enjoyed driving through NH44 in TN and decided to upload the whole 250kms drive to YouTube so that I can leisurely watch it anytime

Re: Where do you go for a drive to unwind?

1. The Kalka-Shimla highway!

It is beautifully laid tarmac and the best part is it is full of twists.
This 60 Kms stretch is fun to tackle and is empty early mornings and during non-tourist seasons. Truly a delight for bike & cornering enthusiasts.

2. Manali - Udaipur (Lahaul & Spiti)

After crossing Atal Tunnel (earlier Rohtang pass) people often take a right turn towards Spiti, very rarely does anyone go left towards the Pattan and then Chenab Valley.
It is a beautiful road, meticulously maintained by the BRO, running side by side the Chenab it has ample corners and straights, this road also enters Jammu and is infamous as the Pangi-Kishtwar road. Approx 100 Kms one way with a river on one side, it is a great test of control and confidence.
