This will be 50-55 lac OTR depending on the state one lives in.
Wow, how times have changed ? To think I bought an E200 Avant garde for the same price in 2017 !
And now have a Verna turbo petrol ( plus VAG 1.5 twins in the market) with similar power / torque at 40% of the price ! ( of course I am not comparing build quality, features, brand value . Just making the point purely from performance stand point)
The performance advantage these Marque brands had in the past, certainly doesn't hold any more for their entry level offerings.

Car price is 25 Lakhs only, rest you pay for brand. Simple calculation

So, has Mercedes started phasing out the diesel engines?
How I wish they would at least provide a competent petrol, if not a strong hybrid. This Renault sourced 1.3 litre has no business being in a Mercedes that costs over 55 lacs OTR.

I feel it is highly overpriced. Being a relatively smaller car, it neither offers the space of a sedan nor the ground clearance for go anywhere capability. Better not to talk about Renault source engine specs whose power figures are comparable to a 18 lakh car. Why would not someone go for Q3 or A4 or BMW 2 series at the same price point ? You get bigger, more capable vehicles. Maybe I am missing something.

Škoda Superb would be a better car if one can ignore the luxury brand value.

Re: Mercedes-Benz A-Class facelift launched at Rs 45.80 lakh

I know inflation kills but the price increase in the auto industry in India is just crazy! For 45 lakhs, you could get a W211 Mercedes E class at one point while you could get a locally assembled W221 S500 with a V8 engine for about 95 lakhs (all ex-showroom)! The original A45 AMG originally came for around 60 lakhs, so this is a 50% price increase in just 1.5 generations! To put it another way, just the price increase is more than the 2-year annual salaries of many Indian professionals! This is just absurd, are salaries in India increasing this fast?

Re: Mercedes-Benz A-Class facelift launched at Rs 45.80 lakh

Globally, car prices are at an all time high. It is not just luxury cars. beyond the 25 lakh range, the car price inflation has been insane, look at the Compass, the Camry, the Tucson etc also seem highly overpriced for what they offer.

I guess when demand is there and production is constrained you might as well maximise profit and those who want to buy will continue to buy. The situation in other markets like US is also similar with car price inflation and second hand car market pricing remaining sky high according to news reports.

Hopefully the semiconductor supply chain issues are expected to be resolved by next year and one can only hope that some price rationalisation comes into effect.

Only semiconductor supply issues cannot be responsible for these insane price hikes since Covid. Have the total input costs risen a lot or are the manufacturers are making hay while the sun shines?
