Yes you heard that right, Fiat is planing to launch the Linea and Punto in mid next year.

The prices ex showroom for the Grande Punto would be 5 Lacs nad for the Linea would be 6.5Lacs.

There will be three engines on offer : -

The famed 1.3 L MJT Diesel
A 1.2L Petrol
A 1.4L Petrol

Fiat really want to become a competitive player in the market and hence they are planing a very competitive pricing for these cars.

The reason for the aggressive pricing it is that they have highly localised parts.

Engines have been loaclised to 85%

The G Punto is expected to ribal the Swift & Getz 1.3, wheras the Linea will take the fight to the SX4.

News taken from ACI, August, 2007.

My thoughts, good bye SX4 & Swift. I own a Swift 1.3DDiS with ABS, i dont like the way the car rattles and quality is not top notch.

Would i like to buy the Grand Punto? Hell Yes :Cheering:

And so tata + fiat combo is taking the bull by the prices...Thus finally it was FIAT learning from TATA now...

Thats one piece of great news. But i would have loved to have a 1.6L engine variant too. That would be real fun.

BUSA, that is a killer pricing if it is true!
Fiat Linea at 6.5 lacs, Awesome!!!

But, AutoCar & other Mags are known to speculate, remember the NHC Gxi story with ABS & Airbags for 20K more? I will take this news with a handful of salt!

Exactly. The thread title is misleading. ACI's speculated prices are nothing but that speculations.

No, No this is no exactly ACI's pricing, its from the horses mouth, after a interview with Fiat India's MD Giovanni De Filippis

And as far as NHC is concerned ACI's news is bang on, only thing is Honda didnot want people to stop buying the current NHC as they must have produced quite a few, so if everyone knows a new model is coming, no one would like to buy the old one? And if they would buy, they would want a discount.

This is day dreaming lol:
ACI .. whats that ?
How can you trust them. Their indicative prices and launch dates are no way near to the actual ones.

The prices are really mouth watering:). I just hope this is true.

Hellcat

BUSA- that pricing of 5 and 6.5 lakhs pertains to which engine ? the top end diesel or the base 1.2 ?

No one will miss the 1.6, the 1.4 is 100bhp.

Thats good news, If all is true its time to say rattling kings (IMHO Swift/SX4) bye bye and welcome Fiat-TATA. Also expect some niggles in the begining lot of units of Puntoo/Lenea with quality since TATA is partner here so chances of virus neggling issues spreading on Fiat cars are there but lets hope quality is better than economic cars like Maruti/Hyundai :)

However I don't trust this news yet because its difficult to dream but hope dream come true.

Price rule in India so If Fiat price it right it can sell cars in heavy volumme.

Also Maruti knows very well from 2008 it has very tough compitetion thats why from 2005 onwards nits very aggressive to launch new models and upgrades to retain market share.

Regards,

Ravi.

obviously it is the base pricing narayan. that is how it is always done. so much so that people do not even consider it misleading anymore. they always tell you the top end trim level and the price of the base model in all adverts. somewhere at the bottom a small font text will say prices start from...

Well, IIRC, ACI did get the SX4 price spot on. Didn't they say 6-7 L ? Or am I making a mistake here.

It wont look surprising when you consider that the 5 lac Punto price may be for the base 1.2. Therefore, the bigger petrol / diesel engines may go as high as 6 lakhs plus.
