Indeed. This is one of the most proportionate design to have come from Mahindra in a long time. The recent XUV7OO is one too. Kudos to the Design team.

Now that needs a lot more work. As SVSantosh said in his post, there is a lot of work to be done to satiate the needs of the enthusiast buyer for whom there are tonnes of options already. The most formidable competition in Europe and many African countries is the Hilux and VW Amarok.

No. it is a size smaller. More Ranger, Hilux, Nissan Navaro category.

They have nothing to loose and a lot to gain with respect & recognition in the international market space. This truck is not going to sell in lakhs inside India (pricing will easily be 30+Lacs). If they are going to compete outside India, they might as well start thinking upwards of a 250+Bhp truck.
Correct. Their engine choices have been serving their purpose for now but going global and targeting higher margin Enthusiast market needs a lot more than just looks.

Mahindra Scorpio-N based Global Pik Up spotted testing

Mahindra showcased a rugged and sporty pickup truck concept called the 'Global Pik Up' earlier this year. Now for the first time, spy images of what appears to be a pre-production test mule have surfaced online.

The Global Pik Up is based on the Scorpio-N, which is quite evident from the spy images. The test vehicle looks much larger than the Scorpio Getaway and is riding on the same dual-tone alloys as the Scorpio-N. Apart from the camouflage, Mahindra has also used taillights from the first-gen Scorpio to hide its identity.

Some of the other details worth noting include a fairly high loading bay with an integrated roll bar and side steps.

According to Mahindra, the Scorpio-N-based Global Pik Up will be powered by the Gen-2 mHawk diesel engine. It can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission and comes with 4-wheel drive.

The Global Pik Up has been developed for markets like India, South and Central America, Australia, Africa and the ASEAN region. It will enter into production in 2025.

Re: Mahindra Global Pik Up: A Close Look

Is it just me or does this look nothing like the actual concept they showed us? It seems to have the same taillights and presumably similar rear design to the 2nd gen Scorpio PikUp. If this is true, then this is really sad but somewhat understandable considering Mahindra typically wants the Scorpio PikUp to be used as a barebones pick up truck.

Looking at the rear design, I'm starting to think this is going to be just like the previous generations of the PikUp; a pick up truck with the front of the Scorpio and an outdated ugly rear. Really a shame considering Mahindra's brand image had been really picking up in Australia and this pikup might not help their premium yet VFM SUV reputation.

Yeah this looks like the first gen scorpio from 10 years ago. Hope they are not planning on pulling a bait and switch.

Re: Mahindra Global Pik Up: A Close Look

Wow, what a fantastic looking beast! I hope they manage to keep this design concept as it is in production. This is the first car that I have liked from the Mahindra stable in a long, long time. It gives vibes like it was designed from scratch by one designer rather than a committee, even if it was. Mahindra truly deserves accolades for this.

This is super confusing. Aren't we still talking about the concept M&M had showcased in SA, the Global Pikup?

Mahindra Global Pik Up: A Close Look-mahindrapickupscorpiogoa2.6crdeslika123299862.jpg
- the test mule looks like the old Scorpio (Goa Getaway) Pickup. Cannot understand why they're testing it now. Maybe they are planning to launch a Scorpio Classic "Local" Pikup?

Mahindra Global Pik Up: A Close Look-mahindrascorpiobadges31909.jpg
- the above-said assumption can't be correct, as the trademarked logo does not look like that of the Scorpio Classic...

Mahindra Global Pik Up: A Close Look-8fhtkw36_400x400.jpg
..-the logo is almost identical to that of Scorpio N...

So what we are about to see is a watered-down realistic version of the concept showcased? Very disappointing, IMHO.

I don't think that they would bring Scorpio Classic "Local" pickup.

Usually an OE would start with existing product to start their engine or internal component test or tuning. If you could remember correctly, ScoprioN's mules used to be old Scorpio Classics with slight modifications to accommodate new engine (mHawk Eagle I engines to Eagle II engines). Only after sufficient maturity is reached with respect to design, they would move towards much closer looking mules. Also, as a comparison, all OE uses Old models as reference when doing the development.

So the Scorpio Getaway could be just base mule or reference vehicle in my opinion.

Re: Mahindra Global Pik Up: A Close Look

The Crewcab body shell and rear load body is definitely form new scorpio pickup.

Only tail lights are from old getaway.

My xenon's FC will expire in DEC.. scorpion pickup will be a good upgrade for me.
