I mailed Ford India about the launch date for Ford Fusion. I got the following response:

Dear Mr. ,

Thank you for contacting Ford India Ltd.
We appreciate the time you have taken to write us regarding the Ford vehicle.

We have noted the contents of the letter and would like to state that we would not be able to communicate any informations of the launch now. However details of the launch and model details would be given through a press release in the end of September.

We regret for the inconvenience.

We trust your understanding on the same.

Thanks & Regards

I can smell Fusion already! Ajmat had posted on this bit of information from a Ford dealer, and now this.

C'mon Ford, time to sideline the Ikon

Somewhere between jubilation about sales jumps and additional production shifts, comes this little ditty from FIL MD and President David Friedman:

When asked about the launch of its new car (a premium hatchback, Fusion), which is being test-driven, Mr Friedman said the product is slated for launch definitely in 2004. “It will be unique, quite different and specially made for the Indian market,” he said.

The cost required to launch a new version of an established model like Icon is negligible compred to lauch a new model. So, they should also be investing to develop new models in Icon. After all, how much is it going to cost add another airbag or somethingelse to the existing Icon lineup?

I checked Deccan Chronicle online and found only a phrase about the launch of Ford's new Icon models. Here is the link:
