Re: The Fiat Panda!

The Fiat Grande Panda is the 2nd evolution of the Citroen C3 CC21 launched in 2021 in Brazil/India.
It's based on the Smart Car Platform. They're low-cost B-hatch with crossover vibes and high ground clearance. Positioning: somewhere between traditional B-hatch and A/B-SUV segment.

Re: The Fiat Panda!

FIAT officially presents the new Grande Panda, a global hybrid and electric SUV with a starting price of less than €19,000 (Hybrid).

The electrified engines of the new FIAT Grande Panda

The Fiat Grande Panda will be launched in an all-electric version, powered by a front motor capable of 113 hp powered by a 44 kWh battery. According to the company's style, the range in the WLTP cycle should exceed 320 km. To recharge it, there is a cable integrated into the car, which is added to the traditional rear socket. It is a coiled cable housed under the bonnet, which does not waste space in the trunk and is easy to handle: it is the first time that a car on the market offers this solution, which allows you to charge in alternating current with a power of up to 7 kW and in direct current up to 100 kW. In this case, you go from 20 to 80% of the charge in less than 30 minutes.

The electric Grande Panda is expected to cost less than €25,000.

The Fiat Grande Panda is built on the Stellantis group's Smart Car platform (the same as the Citroën C3) and will therefore also be offered in a mild hybrid version, which can count on the 101 hp 1.2-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder engine with chain distribution, combined with the six-speed eDCT dual-clutch robotised gearbox. Traction for both versions is front-wheel drive only.

The order book for the new Grande Panda will be opened before the end of this year. FIAT has not gone into details about the structure of the range and offer for the Spanish market but has confirmed that it will be available for less than € 19,000 in a hybrid version.

Re: The Fiat Panda!

I like the new boxy look of Panda, compared to C3.
Going by the past track record of Fiat India, this car might not make it to India.

Re: The Fiat Panda!

Big fan of the retro embossed Fiat logo and the C pillar badge that shows both the retro stripey logo from one angle and the Fiat lettering from another. Looks a solid Euro-spec small cross-over EV.

At 3.99 m it's tempting to imagine it in India but hard to see Stellantis bother in all honesty. I can only see it work if they found a way to rebody and rebadge it as a Jeep - emboss Jeep on the boot and side panels for starters which might be a bit more involved than a simple badge swap job considering the lettering is embossed into the metal work.

Given it's £22k in the UK for the Citroen eC3 on which this is based, I can't see it being an equivalent 24L INR if launched in India - hard to see it launch at all, a CBU at best, at which point you're in the <35L I reckon and it's pretty much DOA even with Jeep badging.

Still, makes you wonder. Going back to it's home market - find it hard for the eC3 or Grande Panda to compete against the likes of the Dacia Spring in terms of 'cheap' and cheerful little urban EV runabouts. I say that though admittedly having never seen the latter in the flesh in the UK. Mostly it's Renault Zoe's in terms of tiny EVs.

I'll say this again - someone needs to immediately release steelies for this car and a boot mounted spare if it's to live up to one of the famous classic Panda iterations.

I await to hear what James May has to say about this.
