The Ford Fusion is now slated for an October launch...with prices starting at a mouth-watering 6.5 lacs!! It will start off with a 70% localisation level - Thus the highly competitive price. Read this Economic Times article for complete details.

Team-BHP's previous discussion on the Fusion can be found here

I would think they would offer the 1.6 of the Ikon as one option.

Thats why they've been able to price it at 6.5 *max localisation there. now i just pray that they are not using the Ikons interior.

Oh! This was the car I saw on Chennai roads couple of months back. Probably doing some homologation tests.
Initially I thought this was the Getz with the Ikon grill

The front design is different but overall i would say the design is pretty boring. There is no flamboyance in the design - pretty straight lines and slab sides. The interior are a straight lift from the Ford Fiesta. I guess the straight lines and slab sides liberate a lot of room so i guess it's more of a practical car.

I feel the price is pretty good. It's a pretty big car and hence a price range of 6.5 to 7.5 lakhs seems adequate. But, i am not sure if ordinary indians are gonna consider it mouth watering and aggressive. Most are going to feel the car is too expensive for a hatcback! so instead majority of ppl who go to the showroom to check out the fusion will instead buy the cheaper ikon flair cuz after all it's a big car - dikki walli gaadi hai- thats what indians will say. Over here, cars are only small (hatchbacks) or big (sedans or dikki walli).
Ford will have to really market the car well here to sell it at that price level. This leaves out Hyundai - once again they have played the smart game. They waited for ford to announce the prices and knowing hyundai they are obviously going to price the Getz at a much cheaper level and announce grandly of more features too.
The BIG FIGHT begins!

It has flopped badly in europe. Another point to add is that the Ikon's interior's suck compared to the equivalent Fiesta. I hired a Fiesta once, came back to India and found the Ikons interior really cheap with less features

that is true. The car did flop badly in Europe. In fact, fiesta sells more than this car. But india is a different country so maybe the car may just do well if people manage to look at it a big hatch and not just a hatch.

again it's true. I hired a fiesta in Germany and the interiors were pretty damn neat. Still the fusion has better interiors than ikon - pretty close to the fiesta interioirs.
