The C3 most probably will get the Punch Powertrain sourced DT1 or DT2, both are Wet Clutch DCT units. The DT1 is offered on the Tata Altroz.

I honestly think that Citroen has its India strategy all wrong. They have a good product but still suffer from the mindset that Indian buyers dont need the bells and whistles when the Indian buyer is not only aware of all the bells and whistles, but is also very discerning when it comes to cars, features and technology. They scrimped on features. No Auto box on offer. Little to no dealer network or ASS. Look how Hyundai and Kia (a relatively late entrant) are doing. Look how MB, BMW, Audi are providing products with tech features.

Stellantis really needs a serious rethink of their India strategy else they too will be out soon.

Such a great looking car with sorted dynamics getting plowed due to Citroen’s weird strategy.
Few simple things to entice buyers would be
1. Add automatic climate control
2. Put the window controls at each door rather than middle
3. Redesign the dashboard to set it apart from its compact sibling
4. Add a TC autobox (which hopefully they are)
Even if after above additions, they increase the price by a lakh or 2, they will still have a lot of ammo to fight in this segment

That's a welcome news, but I hope it is not too late. I was seriously considering C3 or the C3 aircross, but lack of an automatic was the deal breaker.
Even with the dated interiors, the C3 aircross makes for a good proposition due to its world class suspensions, safe platform and a powerful engine that combines best of both worlds. That combined with a lower price than competition and a short waiting period results in a value buy in the present scenario.
A good performing Citroen is a good scenario for Indian car buyers who are faced with an industry where few products are commanding huge margins and waiting periods, while others are struggling to sell small numbers.
Welcome move, and I hope they bring in more features to their products

It is not through a source, but prior input from people involved in the developmemt of the DT1/2 programs (~2019-20). Please do not take it as 100% confirmed. Plans can change based on the landed cost of the unit.

On another note; Tata has formed a JV with Punch Powertrain to manufacture/localize the DT1 in India.

A classic case of 'Too little, too late'. The C3 Aircross has already tanked, and the customers have started looking beyond that product. The poor crash test results of the C3, the lack of modern features in that highly competitive segment, no clear USP, lack of any sort of marketing, very low number of sales/service touch points.

This one AT gearbox, no matter how brilliant it is, cannot save this car now.

If Citroen really is serious about our lucrative market, they need to shun their idea about it first. India is NOT a cheap-car market. Look at the run-away hits - Creta, Seltos, XUV700, generations of Innova, i20, Nexon. All of them offer a premium feel to their customers. In contrast, the cost-cut brands and offerings are what have bombed in our market! Take a look at Datsun Go, Redigo, Etios, Eon, Santro.

I find it unreasonable that Citroen has not understood this simple logic, yet

This is a good move. It will be a peppy little car for sure with this combination of engine and gearbox. Lets hope they price it well and get some customers! They are a great brand. Citroens have always been well engineered, solid and functional. Lets hope the Indian market also appreciates them.

With this update they should introduce
1) Six Airbags and also its safety ratings.
2) Rear windows switches at traditional place.
3) Good sound system.
4) Roof AC on 5-seater too.

Citroen is simply not doing things the right way! First, they launch sparsely equipped cars ( both C3 and the C3 Aircross), second they never offered an AT. Now, after more than an year of the C3’s launch, they are now launching an AT, which is good, but the equipment levels are still stuck in the 90’s! No Automatic climate control even in this new AT variant. I mean, if they have not even bothered with the ACC, im not sure if they would have added market-sought-after features like Sunroof etc. So, they make mistakes over and over again, and then will eventually blame rising costs, taxes and the indian customer’s mentality for their eventual losses!
