Good initiative! MG is getting very aggressive with the new merger. However, they are still missing one key element for making its lower variants VFM and that is Six Airbags which are still restricted to Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro variants.

Perhaps, they need to take a leaf out of Tata and offer Six Airbags as standard. Even Mahindra added Six Airbags in Z8 Select and C3 Aircross is also making Isofix and six airbags standard from H2, 2024.

As a consumer, I would not want to buy a car without Six Airbags in 2024 no matter how VFM it may seem!

Hector, Hector Plus was (always) missing Automatic Transmission in Diesel, this alone had lost them many customers who want the luxury of Automatic Transmission. Don't know what kind of Gap analysis they did before releasing the facelifts

That is really an awful lot of car for 14 lakhs! I don't think any other car can beat the Hectors rate per square feet. But it's time is up. The Hector looked quirky at launch and feels terribly outdated today. While still very spacious & comfortable, I don't think it's going to majorly boost the sales numbers of 2000 odd / month. In the history of the Indian car scene, never has an ageing product gotten a sustainable sales boost with a price cut. At best, this will help it maintain the current sales level for a while.

Still, a great option for the chauffeur-driven or those looking at a sofa-on-wheels in the segment at a cheap price.

Total laziness on MG's part. Tata went & found a superb AT to mate to the same FCA 2.0 diesel motor. And they did a great job of the tuning in the Harrier / Safari ATs too.

Indian consumers are now spoilt for choce in this price segment, but I think at this price point, Hector is going to make a dent in Astor sales.

The Hector is quite frankly a dud in my honest opinion. The engine is very sluggish. Tech is slow to respond and has a mind of its own. SIAC..sorry MG (Sic) needs another chinese model to replace the Hector. Outdated.

All of the above said, i still cannot get over the fact that the MG of today with its ugly model line up is the brand that once adorned beautiful works of art in their two seater cars. Sad.

There's a slight chance of this becoming a hit, as Indians nowadays are more into SUVs and bigger cars. With this giant size available for under 14 lakhs, I guess there's a possible chance of people buying more of these, especially for 7-seater.

Off topic.

Their relentless advertisement on Youtube is getting on my nerves. So repetitive, with the pigs can fly, hens lying golden eggs, unicorns and the last "Oh teri" expression.

Back to topic. No talks of any next gen Hector. Looks like Baojun has gone full BEV small cars only. MG must be deciding whether to go full BEV or maybe they are still going through the SAIC line-up to pick up a suitable model.

As a person who owns a Hector Plus Automatic(CVT), I must say it is a great car and I'm happy that it will be accessible to more people.

I have almost no complaints other than mileage in heavy traffic (I get around 7 KMPL in Delhi). Will be writing a full review of it soon.
