Hoping for the best.

But my only question to Nissan India, in case if they are reading - Why not 'Made for the World, now made in and for India'. Why can't they bring the original portfolio to India.

Re: Nissan India : The Way Forward

Remember when these frauds showcased or let me say flaunted Juke, Qashqai, X Trail and their hybrid technology as a show off.

“Following the success of the Nissan Magnite in India, we plan to strengthen our focus and leverage our expertise on high-quality SUVs. Once the testing is over, the Nissan X-Trail will be the first model to be introduced for sale in the country. ”

These were the exact words used by Nissan India President.
Now look at them backtracking and launching another sub par Indianized vehicle.

Re: Nissan India : The Way Forward

Renault has a potential winner in the new Duster & the 7-seater Bigster. The Duster brand has a very strong fan following in India, so it should translate to initial excitement that Renault should utilize to keep the sales juggernaut rolling.

The Nissan alternative looks interesting, but the Terrano was always second to the Duster in it's heyday. Nissan should introduce something radical to differentiate between the two siblings, otherwise it would be a case of deja vu all over again.

But seriously, what is stopping Nissan from bringing their heavyweights to India? There are so many great models in their international portfolio, so why stick to rebranded Dacias instead ?

Re: Renault and Nissan confirm four new SUVs for India

It is a big disappointment that the X-Trail is not coming to India. It would have been a very good image booster for Nissan, representing the premium and fast cars they are capable of making, demonstrating their innovation and leadership in Hybrid technologies.

X-Trail would have been a good anchor in the consumer 's mind as they consider this new Nissan mass market mid-size SUV. Today, Nissan is known for the Magnite and only known for the Magnite - a company that makes just one good car, which is a cheap and cheerful one. So the expectation will be that Nissan will play at the lower end of the segments it enters in and try to sell cheaper cars thatvare good value. This positioning is not far from the one Citreon is occipying today (albeit without the safety disaster factor going against Citreon after recent zero NCAP safety rating of the C3). Nissan deserves better.

Re: Renault and Nissan confirm four new SUVs for India

Disappointed !!
Not sure what they are thinking, You cannot build a brand without good products, all their existing products are sub-standard compared to competition and pricing is the only usp they have (Magnite/ Kiger vs Sonet / Nexon, no match in engine, features, ride). Their current products are doing some numbers but do not have a brand pull, Duster had that (it was a brand in itself) and it was not compromised product for India (at-least at launch)

They created a new segment in India (without offering cost, without an established brand, without too much marketing) just on the merit of the product (Duster) offering and thats what is expected from them.

They already have quality offerings for the global markets in 4.2 | 4.5| 4.8m segment which they are not leveraging, and the mediocre offerings (Kiger, Triber, Magnite) will slowly become irrelevant given how aggressive the top 6 manufacturers are.

Re: Renault and Nissan confirm four new SUVs for India

As a last generation Duster AWD owner, I can only wish that they bring this wonderful no nonsense product sooner and continue with the cult of Duster. Also, I wish they revive the Gang of Dusters initiative to build the pre-launch excitement.

Re: Renault and Nissan confirm four new SUVs for India

There is no point in launching feature rich cars with weak engines. Other than kwid, Renault/ Nissan cars deserve atleast a 1.2L engine..
