Hello All,

Spotted the undisguised G60 BMW 5 Series outside GARC (Global Automotive Research Centre) in Oragadam, Chennai today!

While not as beautiful as the outgoing G30 LCI, the new G60 looks pretty good in person, as compared to the photos and videos on the Internet.

Some quick photos that I managed to click. This looks to be the regular wheelbase model and not the long wheelbase, which we were supposed to get in India.

Is it the angle or does the Car looked raised?

Possibly an India Specific version with higher GC?

Highly possible that it has some rough road package for the suspension.
It does look like it sits higher than the G30...

Going by the exterior, it looks like they have brought the G60 Sport variant. The aluminium line exterior trim and the silver triplex-spoke wheels are a clear giveaway. Also, this has a 2-spoke steering wheel, whereas the M Sport will have the traditional 3-spoke one.

Cars when shipped have suspension dead-stops which makes the car looks raised.

Most of the German cars sold in India used to come with a rough road package or similar that includes changes to the suspension or ride height compared to international version. On the previous gen mercedes cars especially, the ride height change was very obvious.

Or it could be for transport.

Nothing less than the 530d will do for sales. That inline 6 engine alone is still sought after.

I'll say this unapologetically but what a horrible design. The side profile lacks the elegance that a 5 series should have, the rear looks cheap and tacky (especially with the exhaust design..what is that?), the headlights look like something a knockoff BMW would have and the lack of definition along the sides makes it look plain and uninteresting. Absolutely no details on the front, makes it looks like the designers decided to submit DRAFT 1 and call it a day. Perhaps the only thing I can appreciate about it's design are the alloys and the fact that it doesn't have the massive grille that they tried on some other models
The 7th generation 5 series is the best looking by far. Why do manufacturers have to be so radical nowadays? Look at the shift from the 6th gen to the 7th gen, smooth yet modern.
Many will find this look appealing but frankly, I just think it lacks class, something the 5 series should emanate from a mile away.

All eyes on whether on launch it will be LWB and/or SWB and whether it 30i (258 bhp) or 20i (190 bhp) will go on sale in India. Hoping for a higher state of tune.

G60's sloping rear end looks like an Octavia for me in some angle.

I purchased one of these in the US a few days ago (coincidentally in the same color and alloy wheel combination as the one in the pictures). I too initially hated the looks but it looks much better in person.

The B48 Turbo Charged 2.0 Liter engine is in the 530i and puts out 255 bhp and in the xDrive version of the car does 0-60 MPH (about 100 km/h) in about 5.5 seconds and has great economy and I think should be a good choice for the Indian market.

This will probably be upwards of 90L on road and yet no 360 camera in a country where it is needed the most. Shame.

Even a Baleno has it. What are the germans thinking? Will 3 extra cameras drive their conglomerate into the ground?!

The design looks radical. There’s either a radical good or radical bad and this ..ah thing, falls on the latter side.
So much so, that the ‘kind of boring’ current E class (not the upcoming screen fest) has started to look much more characterful

They don't have the 530d for this generation. They now have only the 540d with xDrive which will for sure be very expensive to sell here (relative to the competition, that is). Instead, they might just bring in the 5M (when launched and ready) direct as special edition or something and skip the 540d altogether.

Weird design in the first place and the long wheel base makes it look worse, BMWs of the 90s were so timeless, I cannot get used to this design language despite trying to like it since it was unveiled first in 2023, the new E Class looks so much better! BMW has lost its edge in terms of their design language, their new 7 looks awesome but for the ugly face, it is like one or the other radical element spoiling the overall appeal on all of their offerings, XM being the worst of all!
