Mahindra recently launched the XUV 3XO with first-in-segment features like a panoramic sunroof and Level 2 ADAS. Rival Tata Motors has responded and will soon offer the Nexon with a panoramic sunroof.



Spy images of a Nexon test mule equipped with a dual-pane panoramic sunroof have surfaced online. It is likely to be offered on higher variants of the compact SUV, while lower variants will get a single-pane unit. On the XUV 3XO, the larger sunroof is available from the AX7 variant.

Besides the addition of a panoramic sunroof, no other changes are expected. The Nexon will continue to be offered with features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera, blind spot monitor, 6 airbags and more.

The two engine options will also be carried over unchanged. These include the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Nexon rear headroom is anyway a bit compromised due to the sloping rear roof line. Panoramic sunroof will eat into it further.

It's nice but feeling slightly hesitant about this. Is structural integrity compromised? The frame wasn't designed with a panoramic sunroof in mind. Will they crash test this variant again?

Bravo! That is quick although Tata already knew about this coming up many many months ago, better late than never.

3 Years after launch Skoda \ VW is yet to give a dual pane sunroof for their compact crossovers, hope they see and learn how fast our Indian OEMs are in terms of adapting to market needs.

Just went to the website, I saw 96 variants!! With this will it become 192?! How does one even begin to choose?

To compete they actually need a few more :
Rear Disc Brakes
Electronic Parking Brake with Auto hold

I might be missing a few more which aren't coming to my mind as of yet.

The issue with XUX3X0 is boot space, unfortunately AGAIN when competing with Nexon.
Definitely it has many advantages over Nexon(except looks IMO) still IMO Nexon will beat 3XO month after month after initial 3-4 months.

It is a lot and overwhelming at first, but once you realise everything it's not so bad.

They made dual tone and dark a variant instead of just a color option. That alone almost triples the variants (assuming not every single variant has that option)

The sunroof option also adds to it.

If it was just the base variants and the sunroof and color choices an option on top, it'd make things a lot easier.

From perspective of a non car guy who goes out to buy his first car. Prima facie it shall be confusing to look at and understand. TATA should simplify this. Shall be good for TATA ( from production line perspective) and consumer too.


If they plan to continue this way, they should approach with a branch like design. That consumer can navigate and select the model he wants. ( similar to custom made approach)

It will be a game changing thing for Tata sales, personally not liking the design of new XUV 3X0.

Surprised to see the demand of sunroof, even companies are forced to update( Research, Testing, Structural Modification ) their vehicle just to add a sunroof, before 5-6 years companies update their vehicles only while a mid life update or generation change. In our boiling cities there is no use of sunroof, companies should add ventilated seats, dash cam or a pure automatic transmission across all the variants. Although customers should demand these features
