Recently Mahindra XUV700 had achieved the 2,00,000 sales milestone. To celebrate this occasion, Mahindra has now cut the prices of XUV700 AX7 and AX7L variants by ₹2.19L :Cheering:

Mahindra had a good opportunity to reduce the prices of other variants and introduce new features (read: Ventilated seats, Auto dim IRVM) as well.

This looks like a turn of the tide. Mahindra is trying to be proactive to offset the upcoming slowdown.

Yup, this might be the real reason. With the updated prices it is cutting Safari's top variant by ~3.35L (AX7L Diesel AT 2WD: 23.99L vs Fearless + Dark AT: 27.34L)

I like this straightforward approach that Mahindra has taken (also Skoda recently) of just changing the prices, vs a vanity price on the website but random haggling with dealers for discounts.

The next few months will be a good time for people looking to get new cars. From most reports there is a big slowdown in auto sales, and Inventory has started building up, so expect more price cuts and dealership discounts.

Yeah I'm sure it's to celebrate the occasion and not because inventory is piling up!

It is presumed that nothing other than discounts and offers will click to clear off their unsold inventories. They now need to wait till the onset of the next festival season starting, early October 2024.

So much for the 12-18 month waiting periods for Toyotas & Mahindras!

Finally market seems to be correcting. The car prices have been so over inflated these days and rather absurd. High time these corrections happen, downturn or not prices were not really sustainable. The disparity goes up through the roof as you climb the segments. A BMW 3 series close to a crore on road ~72 L ex showroom in Bangalore is some serious joke! Those cars are not worth a penny over 50 Lakhs on road. But hey people blame high taxes and inflation, reality is they were sold much cheaper until recent years. It is just pure greed and bubble had to burst sooner or later.

This means the ex showroom prices are corrected, which also will reduce the road tax / insurance etc giving further better price ? Amazing if thats the case.

Just realised it's just the AX7 variants listed and that's 16 variants in that alone. :Frustrati

Appreciate the price cut:Cheering: however IMO Mahindra should launch new variant with addition of other missing features such has Auto dimming IRVM, sliding middle row and electric tail gate…atleast for this 3rd year Anniversary.

When launched the AX7 AT AWD was priced at 21.09 lakhs and AX7L AWD AT was priced at 22.89 lakhs. Revised prices of 22.80 and 24.99 lakhs are just 1.71 - 2.1 lakhs above the launch price that were set nearly 3 years ago. Not to forget the features added over this period, such as ventilated seats, captain chairs in second row etc.

Normal 6% inflation would have dictated a cumulative price increase of close to 20% cumulatively by now, so containing the price increase over the period to about 9% is quite remarkable as it translates to much less price increase than inflation - which means Mahindra is passing on economies of scale to customers, or compromising on margins to sell more. It is more likely to be the former.

I just wish they would hurry up with the mid-life-cycle facelift, as I hate the curved walrus-teeth like headlight elements as well as some of the other overdone visual elements. I hope the mid-life facelift will make this car more mature and classy looking.

I do feel M&M could have given one AT variant just a tad bit below 20 lakhs. This would have saved some amount of road tax in some states (for example, in TN, vehicles with ex-showroom price below 20 lakhs are charged 18% Road Tax, while the ones over this price have to pay the full 20% road tax.

I guess the price reduction should spread to the rest of the range as well since the gap between the AX5 and AX7 would be lowered by this 'celebration'. Maybe they are lowering prices in phases.

The price drop might depend on their inventory mix?

I'm curious to know Thar 5D position now. Pretty sure Thar, ScorpioN and xuv700 prices will overlap a lot and its upto customers which one to pick based on their need. AX7 D AT AWD at ~28L is very tempting.

Exactly the right strategy. Ensure the sale is in Mahindra's pocket. Provide all kinds of options within same/similar price points. Self-cannibalize while ensuring no product is marketed superior than the other but serves different purposes and themes and pull. Leave it to the customer to choose.

Wish Mahindra can launch a shorter car like XUV600 - 5 seater right in the Creta/Seltos category. Not everyone needs more seats or such a large boot.

Mahindra had confirmed in 2021 that they will be launching a 5 seater version of XUV700 with smaller size, engines and name it XUV500. The initial launch timeline was 2024, but I guess that they forgot about this :)
