Visited CONCORDE this weekend to check out the new SAFARI.

The on-road price is 8,56,000-00. That is for the cheapest model. On general enquiry, they have a 08 model on 20,000 discount, but no discounts on the new one.

The TCIC SAFARI is still made, but only against orders. They did not have a price for it, but said it would cost a lakh less. The cheapest SAFARI is hence 8,00,000. Road tax costs 1 lakh, so if it is registered as a taxi, then the price would still go down to 7,00,000-00.

Ask ram.west about great 2nd hand deal on Safari. :)

He was lucky to get a 1-year old or lesser 2.2 with only a few thousand kms on the odo for like 5lakhs, which IMO is a super deal, if you don't mind the Tata niggles. He is one happy man. I guess it was a Ex model.

Ofcourse, the seller was known to his Dad and was leaving the country, which are factors that could have resulted in the sweet price.

A new one would cost 8-9Lakhs on-road I think. For the seller, a massive loss of 50% value in 1 year.
For ram.west, a super sweet deal. :D

Lucky?? I would call it SUPER-DUPER DEAL :Shockked:

EDIT: Just spoke to a friend, According to him Safari do suffer from Low resale. Above it is actually a disaster if any how one will try to sale off his petrol safari. One would happy to keep newly bought petrol safari in his garage rather then selling it off !!

This is the problem in most of the Tata vehicles...it is not only safari. :Frustrati

its :OT but still i wanted to reply to this. i bought tata indica dls in april 2004 for 3.85 lacs on road which included alloys and bigger set of tyres and sold it in 2.10 lacs with alloys to dealer after a running of around 90,000 kms. my only major expense done was changing tyres thrice and alloys twice ( i got bored with earlier ones).
it was black in colour and was further sold to a person for 2.30 lacs who kept it for personal use and not for taxi purpose. white color would have fetched another 10,000.
i sold it because i got tired driving a non turbo car and i was anyways going to sell it around 1,00,000 km mark.
so i wont say there is problem with all tata cars. you will get sweet deal for indica and tata sumo because of taxi consumer base...safari is an execption though.
