The images in both the posts are of the same dashboard, if not part of the 5 door Thar, they very well may be from the facelift of the 3 door Thar, but hopefully we'll come to know soon, as 2024 isn't that far away now. |
Perhaps Mahindra is developing this to introduce a special edition Thar featuring a dual-color interior.
A refresh to current 3 door, then a 5 door. With current 3 door Petrol AT already touching 19L i am wondering where will this even the lower trim of 5 door will be positioned. Even if we take the 4wd Z4 Scorpio N as some reference point, this 5 door AT Thar appears to be be hitting a 20L+ bracket.
Jan 2024 and there is no update as to when Thar is being launched. Seems Mahindra will skip this Republic Day.

We get some more information with this update.
Also will host a bigger touchscreen with a modern driver information display. Also may see more creature comforts compared to the SBW Thar. |
The touchscreen will be borrowed from the Scorpio N as the new reports.

Coupled up with the huge waiting period of Mahindra vehicles, I believe this will probably see the roads only in 2025.

My guess is that they'll launch it on 15th August instead.
Have been told by my vendor that it's going to be launched before Q2 2024.

They should create a new assembly line at the current plant that Assembles Thar. Alternatively, reduce the production of 3 door Thar and share the same line. That is because anyways there will be a fall in numbers of the 3 door variants. There maybe some impact, but many of the current booking will migrate to the new car.
I hope they tune the engine for improved FE or better, provide an ECO/CITY mode for the petrol engine variants.
Wondering if the rear seats will be individual buckets as shown in some of the pictures! What is the point of having a 4 door LWB version if the rear bench cannot seat 3..

I've come across three seater bench at the rear from the trial shots. The seats are taken from the ScorpioN both at the front and rear.
Mahindra Thar 5-door production to start by June this year, earmarks around 4,000 units of the Thar 5-door every month.
- The 5-door could get the
Thar Armada moniker upon launch
- Thar 5-door will have the same 10.25-inch touchscreen that made its debut on the updated XUV400; it could also get OTA updates.
-This unit features improved interface and graphics and will also feature on the
XUV300 facelift that will go on sale before the Thar 5-door.
- The steering wheel seems to be the same as the one on the XUV700.
- The SUV will get a sunroof on higher variants.
- Sale of the 'Thar Armada' will be in the second half of this year.

Is the 5 Door Thar going to have the same Double Wishbone Suspension as the Scorpio-N or will it retain the more reliable Front Suspension from the 3 Door Thar.

Just now noticed that the redesigned centre console has a big change. Other than the absence of coin holders and power window switches, the location of the handbrake and cupholders have been changed. Almost like a mirror copy of the 3 door Thar. The handbrake nearer to the front passenger than driver in the 5 door Thar.
With the blank storage space near the gearlever for the presumed 4x2 version, hope the mechanical lever is retained instead of buttons/dials for the 4X4 control.
