Mahindra uses the same m-Hawk engine on Scorpio-N and XUV700, so I feel this engine can be tuned to output higher output comparable to Scorpio-N. I have not seen any videos of ECU tuning for m-Hawk on Thar from reputed ones like WolfMoto and Code6.

Dear All,
My first post at this prestigious forum, so bless me please.
Pardon me for going off topic. Thar may be a medium, but I’m sure the same driver when in a foreign country, would get transformed into a sane driver, all of a sudden, by himself. I mean, more than thinking of the capabilities of a vehicle allowing insane driving, the laws should be enforced properly that one doesn’t even dream of doing so.

We all see not just thar drivers, but those driving all sorts of other vehicles making a mockery of road rules. Lately, in Delhi, where I live, it’s on the rampant, be it overloading (to the order of even 3-4 guys on a bike), not even the main rider wearing helmet, jumping traffic light at the speed of 60 kms/hr, driving on wrong side of the road, etc. and sometimes finding a single vehicle doing all this at the same time.

Seeing these incidents, I recently poked some traffic policemen on a couple of times, and they seem to be dis-interested in containing it, rather they seemed scared trying to do their duty.

I really feel 1-2 years of mandatory service in country’s army (like many other nations do) is a must in our country, given the respect for law that we have.

Again, sorry for such off topic thoughts.

A forced regen is not required for engines with SCR as it used DEF (AdBlue) whereas a forced regen is necessary for engines that rely on P-SCR / LNT (Lean NOx Trap).

Actually it’s the other way. Engines with DPF & SCR needs forced regen.

Sir, Incorrect.

P-SCR / LNT evolved to completely eliminate the additional cost of AdBlue and hence forced regen is necessary by running the engine at a higher RPM as rich fuel mixture converts NOx trapped in the catalyst washcoat to N2

SCR works by injecting AdBlue known as diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), into an exhaust stream, where it mixes with the exhaust gas. As the gas-reductant (AdBlue - 32.5% high ourity Urea + 67.5%) mixture passes through through a catalyst, a chemical reaction converts the NOx in the exhaust into nitrogen (N2), water (H2O) and carbon dioxide (CO2).

If you are getting DPF clogged message in a SCR system, it could be an issue with the sensors or the EGR itself which in case the only option is to replace it.

I don't know the technicalities. However I own a diesel Thar which uses DEF and it has a forced regen option. In fact, DPF clogging is a common issue faced by many Thar owners and the first fix is a forced regen.

Now you know who was responsible for those controversial design choices..!

Just received a message from the local Mahindra dealer, the unveiling would be at 10:30 pm tomorrow and all the features and engine specs will be released.

They have no idea as to when the bookings are going to start, it will not be tomorrow.

Work is being done to create more and more Hype.

While I have not seen it without Camo, I love the way they have tried to preserve the Targa band \ roll cage like design on the C pillar. Its a very nice touch.

Young families should do well with this, the compromises are going to be worth it.

Someone I know had spent ~3L on a set of retractable side steps for his Wrangler :) , I was wondering if that could have been spent on the down payment of this instead.

We really are seeing the benefits of doing ground up car development from our own soil - amazing.

Hi all, is there any chance of Mahindra announcing changes to the three door Thar as well tomorrow?

3 Door Thar looks much better than 5 Door Roxx and Jeep Wrangler 3 door

Rubicon or 5 door wrangler looks better than Roxx

My fav would be Thar > Rubicon >> Roxx

Am happy have a 3 door thar and love the Stedi headlights 😊

Personally, from what I have seen, I like the Thar Roxx better than Thar. Thar dimensions always seemed a lil off and squashed to me, Roxx fixes that, but adds quirks of its own, lets see how it turns out as a whole package.

In 'Mods own country', the Mahindra That Roxx is all set to make its global debut amid big fanfare.
