Suzuki Hustler spied in India without camouflage

Suzuki Hustler spied in Delhi without camouflage. Rushlane says it's a Tata Punch Rival. If it's launched in India with this design it will meet the same fate as Jimny.

Re: Suzuki Hustler spied in India without camouflage

If Maruti follow similar to Jimny pricing strategy, Punch will eat this like a post breakfast snack!
This looks more like s-presso XL, while its not a bad thing, given a chance I will choose spresso for city usage.

Now that's painful for my eyes. Another box on wheels.
Whatever happened to the curves and low angles?

Re: Suzuki Hustler spied in India without camouflage

Looks like a mix and match between the S-Presso and Jimny.

To be honest, this design is taking the "Pseudo SUV" design philosophy a little too far. The car looks to be sub-compact, and under 3.6 meters, and at best can be a replacement for the Spresso, but I cannot digest this being sold alongside other small Maruti's.

Give me the Ignis K12M anyday over this contraption !

I feel Jimny is not selling because of the pricing(1.5L engine on sub 4m car meant the price was always a premium). At that price, we will obviously compare with either Thar or more practical Creta/Seltos or even Sonet/Venue.

Hopefully Hustler will not have any such issues thanks to 1.0/1.2L engine and Maruti can price it better.

Re: Suzuki Hustler spied in India without camouflage

For what it offers is a smart and practical tall boy design loaded with a nice engine and transmission, but the dimensions are small and won't fit well in our market.
If this can be extended both in terms of length and width, and marketed correctly, it can replace Ignis and bring some good numbers for MSIL. Else with this size, it can be considered as an inspiration for the next version of S-Presso.

This looks like one of those old Chinese rip-offs. Hideous. Think it may work as a pure EV.

Re: Suzuki Hustler spied in India without camouflage

If Suzuki wants success then they should not position it as a consumer product, it can be the replacement of Wagon R in the cab segment. I do not see direct buyers associating this. This can be another SwiftDzire moment for them in the cab space.

Re: Suzuki Hustler spied in India without camouflage

Since it doesn't have any camouflage, could be some component testing or so.

Going against the tide here, I would love this to be launched here. (guilty of being a kei car fan )

Though this could be an Ignis successor, am more hoping for this to come in an EV or hybrid version.

Perfect runabout car.

Looks like a monocoque Jimny 5dr minus the off road capability.
An EV version of this would make a nice city car.

Re: Suzuki Hustler spied in India without camouflage

Am I the only one or does it actually look like a cheap Chinese rip-off of the Land Cruiser?

Back when WagonR was launched, many people hated it for its boxy design (including us, it was Santro Xing vs WagonR and we bought Santro Xing) but the WagonR, even after around 2 decades, continues to dominate the sales chart (has never lost a spot in the top 10). Same case with the S-Presso, I still don't like the design, but even after so many years and absolutely no updates, it continues to sell 2k-3k every month due to its "Micro SUV" (no idea what that means) credentials and the relatively high seating position.

MS might be up to a similar strategy with the Hustler. If they load it with all the necessary features, give the K10 and K12 engine options with manual and automatic options (AMT would suffice) and launch it under the Nexa brand, it might sell decently well. People might consider it a premium alternative to the S-Presso, you never know.

Though it may be a very practical car for Indian cities unfortunately it looks like a pigmy, i really doubt Suzuki is planning to launch it in India.

Looks so JDM. I wish Maruti brings it here. Although many people may initially hate it for its boxy design, this looks so much practical for city run abouts. And I think the design will grow on people.

Re: Suzuki Hustler spied in India without camouflage

I could travel in this car in my recent trip to Japan, it's a great city car. Looks pretty good in person than in pics. I really hope Maruti launch this car in India - we need some cars that look upmarket, it's time to move on from alto's, wagonr's and spresso's.

Re: Suzuki Hustler spied in India without camouflage

Hate absolutely how narrow-minded the Indian car community has become. Yes, this car is small and niche but it is something different from the usual stuff we get here. A proper kei car! love it. We bash manufacturers for not being adventurous and experimental with car launches in India but at the same time bash them for acting out of the box. Suzukis are known for their small cars and kei cars and they have a long history.
