Re: What would you describe each of the carmakers in India as, in one line?

In no particular order
  • VW - still a foreigner in India
  • Skoda - screams premium (to the uninformed)
  • Honda - screamed premium (once upon a time)
  • MG - (self) conscious of heritage
  • Jeep - Identity crisis 2.0 (no thanks to M&M)
  • Toyota - a darling of fleet owners
  • Citroen - another European unheard of in India
  • Mahindra - more SUV per car
  • Hyundai - shiny, appealing outside bits
  • Kia - even more shiny and appealing outside bits
  • Maruti - ageing superstar who blocks out younger talent

Re: What would you describe each of the carmakers in India as, in one line?

Maruti Suzuki - Cheap cars, cheap build quality and doesn't care about passenger safety.
Hyundai or one should say "Creta"dai - Feature loaded cars but scared to send their car for safety ratings.
Tata - Safe feature load cars with all possible fuel options and hit or miss ASS. Current EV king.
Mahindra - The true SUV company with innovation and safety combined. Could have done better on EV strategy.
Toyota - Overpriced or rebadged cars, still treating India as third world country.
Kia - Had a good start with three brilliant cars but no product road map post that
Honda - Squandered all the head start they had in India due to abysmal strategy. No product strategy and road map.
MG - Turned fortunes since JSW JV. Good product pipeline.
Volkswagen / Skoda - Slow and steady wins the race but are they winning?
Renault - No product strategy may be it rubs off from their technical partner Nissan.
Nissan - God knows why are they in India. One product on sale and new model added as an overpriced CBU.
Citroen - Shows promise but products are missing key features.
Jeep - Fiat/Stellantis never got it right in this country.

Re: What would you describe each of the carmakers in India as, in one line?

Suzuki - The cost cutting champion
Hyundai - Best in the race
Kia - The star's younger brother
Mahindra - Living the adrenaline rush!
Tata - The champion who keeps having injuries, hence cannot run the race
Toyota - Head over heart
Nissan/ Renault - Once ahead, but not got the stamina to run more
Citroen - Newcomer who dreamed for the best, but is still dreaming now.
Honda/Jeep - Just pass student who passed with one product

Re: What would you describe each of the carmakers in India as, in one line?

Well, I initially thought that this would be a satirical thread. Anyway, some of the ideas from me:
  • Tata: Leaders in diesel SUVs, EVs while the petrol
  • Hyundai: Leaders in most polarizing designs - either love us or hate us, don't sit on the fence.
  • Honda: ka ab ki hon-da? (broken Punjabi for what will happen now)
  • Toyota: The leaders of the ToyoTa-xi Innova
  • Skoda/VW: Leaders in sedan. What's the score, da?
  • MG: Chinese hai ji

This post is just for fun. No offence to any car owners. All brands are great and doing well in India.

Maruti - Looking for your first fuel efficient car? Your search ends here.

Hyundai - Looking for a feature rich car? You have come to the right place.

Mahindra - Looking for an SUV? We've got every price bucket covered (well, almost!)

Toyota - Looking for a global brand car? Come and join happy customers across the globe.

Tata - Looking for an Indian brand with good looking cars? You will like what you see in our showroom, but you might not want to visit our service centers.

Nissan/ Renault/ Skoda/ VW - Want our car? Great! Now check if we have a presence in your city.

Re: What would you describe each of the carmakers in India as, in one line?

Maruti - Fuel efficient, Reliable , but 0 Safety.

Hyundai - Plush interior, poor build.

Tata - Great Cars, but reliabiility is a big ""?""

Honda - Reliable but ancient gems.

Volkswagen - DSG failure is the first phrase in my mind.

Skoda - Great looking cars, reliability is not upto the mark.

Mahindra - Fantastic cars, great designs, great interiors with minor niggles.

These were the phrases that first came to my mind.

Re: What would you describe each of the carmakers in India as, in one line?

I can better only concentrate on Maruti (MSIL) the famed #1 whose motto is:-

"make match boxes, let them get dented, disfigured, let them crash, our ASC and we get rich, balance sheets matter, sending $ to the parent matters, NCAP is trash, rubbish, junk and alien and a way to hoodwink our faithful customers."
