Citroen C5 Aircross base 'Feel' variant discontinued; prices now start at Rs 39.99 lakh

Citroen has discontinued the base 'Feel' variant of the C5 Aircross. The SUV is now available in a single top-spec 'Shine' trim priced at Rs 39.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

In 2021, Citroen introduced the C5 Aircross in the Indian market. The SUV received its first update a year later. The top-spec Shine variant is equipped with features such as a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a wireless charger, and a panoramic sunroof.

The now-discontinued Feel trim lacked most of these features. It also had a smaller infotainment system compared to the top variant. That being said, it cost over Rs 3 lakh less than the Shine variant.

The C5 Aircross is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 175 BHP and 400 Nm. The engine is mated with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

At this point, who cares?

C5 is a dead car, I can’t remember the last time I saw one. It can’t be resurrected.

Absolutely, I don't think they can move these even with a 10L upfront discount....

Forget the C5, Citroen in India is dead. They've just launched their updated C3 and C3 Aircross, cars which should have been launched in their current avatar years ago. The online showroom sounds like a good idea on paper, but at the end of the day, customers like to feel and see their cars.

Citroen, like all the other brands Stellantis has launched in India had good potential, but is let down by shoddy decisions.

I am still in love with C5 with one big heart and no mind to buy one. But , I want them to appreciate it by giving me a warm welcome with amazing discounts I can’t refuse. I tried once last year but failed. They even stopped responding.

Does anyone care other than me? NO!

Ah yes. The highly sought after car that sells in whopping, *squints*, single digit numbers has discontinued a variant. Truly a heartfelt loss to the ten people who wanted to buy this. Impossible pricing coupled with an even more improbable sales strategy leads to an imperceptible demise. Citroen sincerely needs to rethink their approach specifically in marketing and sales.

I raised request for a test drive of their latest and greatest Basalt sometime back. I got a call from their call center and confirmed that someone from their dealership will contact me for test drive. So far I got nothing.

Looks like they are in the giving up phase already.

They've missed the bus. At this point, I doubt if anyone cares. I'd visited their showroom to test the Basalt & C3 Aircross. The showroom was dull, the staff didn't care, the cars barely had fuel for 2-3 kms (I was told TD will be only for 1 km as there was no fuel). It'll take a monumental effort for Citroen to survive. However, both the cars were good. Bareboned, but great dynamics.

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross base 'Feel' variant discontinued; prices now start at Rs 39.99 lakh

They could have brought a hybrid-petrol model to present themselves competitively against the Tucson and the Taigun. They could have dropped the prices to compete more. They could have planted the 1.6 engine from overseas into this car while the diesel sales faltered. They could have done so much more than what they are doing now.

But in the world of Stellantis, with a CEO so focused on bottom-line margins, none of this would have happened. And it didn't. And now, Citroen have 1 car to sell. The Basalt. And even that's faded into obscurity. The C3 twins exist.....somehow. But not enough. At this point, Stellantis needs to invest more into India or just leave. This form of stepmotherly action isn't right or good. But who am I to complain?

I also love the C5 Aircross, preferably the pre-facelift one. I'm a big fan. I wish I had the money to buy it.
