So ladies and Gentlemen, you head to your Honda showroom, test drive the Honda Accord, buy the V6 instead, and drive home thinking you are the king of the roads. Hmm... very much possible.

Scene 2: You head to a Honda showroom, buy the Accord V6 inspite everyone else's pleas, call up Mugen in Japan, order a body kit+tuning kit for Rs. 3,00,000. Soup it up and drive the car down the roads of B'bay knowing for sure that u have the fastest Accord in town. Result? BSM doing a test drive on your beast and TB members drooling all over your car.

Honestly at 22 lakhs, Mr. Mohan Mariwala has made an already smart looking car even smarter. It has that typical M car look to it, understated at first but when u press that throttle, u just realise u messed around with the wrong person. So what is Mariwala's accord all about?

On my regular trips to college via Century bazaar, i used to pass by the Auto Hangar showroom at the Century Bazaar, Worli signal w/o even turning around. But one fine day i saw this beautiful Golden Accord with a nice body kit (minus spoiler) and lovely alloys which looked like 17 inchers to me. Initially i was blown over by its understated presence and thought wow!, this has to be some beast. A few days later i decided to check the car out personally and what caught my eye was that Mugen badge at the rear. Boy, i even asked the door-keeper if Mariwala was in, but he wasn't. I badly wanted to know the specs of that car, but the wait wasn't to be very long....

finally BSM covered the car in this month's issue. Don't even think that this is an ordinary Accord friends. Its a 260 bhp V6 that does 0-100 in 7.75 seconds (w/o chip) and around 7 seconds(with chip). In w/o chip config it sports around 240bhp and with chip, 260. Now if i were to compare it with the standard Accord V6's timing which does it in roughly 8 seconds this is a quantum leap. And mind you the Mugen's timings were in the wet, so in the dry, it should easily be half a second quicker. What's even more suprising is the 80-120 kph timings have fallen by a full second!

All of this for just Rs 3 lakh seems like a decent VFM proposition. Meanwhile I need to check out if Mugen is offering something for my Zen.....

P.S. read the whole story on the Mugen Accord in the August issue of BSM.

Yup, sure is a nice car. Though that color is just plain ugly!

Also, the BSM article goes on to say that he should add a huge spoiler on the rear along with some graphics and a jazzy paint job! BBoy, has he lost the plot!!

Thank God atleast the owner had more sense!

Wow, sounds great. Does anyone have Mugen's number.

BTW what power output does his Accord have, 240 or 260bhp, coz remember, the normal V6 here is just 221bhp.

U know Honda should team up with Mugen and bring out a new version of the City Vtec which will not only be different from the present city in terms of looks, but with an amazing power and handling package.

Regards...

the accord gettin the mugen treatment is gud but i think mugen should cum to india and tune up citys as well coz the new city doesnot have gud performance and the accord doesnot need any improvement in performance as the car is meant more for luxury..

Actually it's the accord that needs all the attention. It's got the power and the speed, but with out great handling. If Mugen can tune the suspenssion and chassis of the Accord, nothing in this country will come close to that xperience.

Well nice take on the issue fasbond112, but let's really look at the aftermarket tuning scene in India.

Take Brabus. They are officially present in India. But give or take 4-5 modified Mercs, that too my guess being either alloy wheels, bodyskirts and minimal tuning changes at best, there aren't any full blown Brabus cars that i can recall of in India. And mind you, they have been here for nearly 5 years, if not more. The market is too small for the organised after-market specialists.

Meanwhile, i am yet to understand why people put those sparco stickers on their cars (ala FnF) when i can't see their seats inside....

thanx rev,
well in India the market is too small for tunin as most ppl buy car 4 luxury and few like u and me buy for performance and racin. Also the cars are more expensive in our country..coz of the taxes so its difficult for ppl to afford gettin them tuned. I spoke to brabus.. they told me they keep alloys for mercs and they rechip the ecu and do tunin as well as far as stcikin stickers is concerned its juss showin off i have seen many omnis with audi signs and few palios with ferrai signs and 800s wid ferrari stickers.. and bmw is all time favorite for rickshaws..
regards
