Can this be the S-Cross available in Europe? Alloys are different but that can be possible.

Maruti Suzuki to launch 7-seater Grand Vitara this year

Maruti Suzuki has lined up two new SUVs for the Indian market, starting with the e Vitara, which will go on sale in September. During a recent conference, chairman R.C. Bhargava confirmed the second model but stopped short of revealing the exact details.

According to media reports, the second SUV that is due to be launched in 2025 is the 7-seater Grand Vitara (codenamed: Y17). Test mules have already been spotted since December 2024.

The 7-seater Grand Vitara could borrow some design cues from the e Vitara. Spy images suggest that it could get connected LED taillights similar to the EV, while the front features headlamps positioned lower down on the bumper and different DRLs.

The 7-seater version will also be slightly longer than the existing Grand Vitara. The car also features a larger rear quarter glass and 2-tone alloy wheels in a new design.

The 3-row Grand Vitara will be based on the same C platform as the standard model. It is expected to be powered by the same powertrains as well: 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid.

FINALLY... MSIL gives its premium customers a chance to stay within the brand while upgrading from their existing wheels (Ertiga, XL6, Brezza, or Ciaz).

While Maruti has enjoyed massive success with it's current 7-seaters like the Ertiga and XL6 (though positioned as a premium offering), it was surprising to see India’s largest automobile manufacturer sitting on the sidelines as competitors launched new products and updates in the hotly contested ₹15–22 lakh SUV market.

The Grand Vitara 7-seater will be MSIL's answer to Hyundai's Alcazar, Kia's Carens and to some extend M&M's Scorpio-N, however, the only Achilles' heel could be the familiar but lame 1.5L naturally aspirated (NA) engine. While this engine delivers adequate performance for the existing 3 row Ertiga and XL6, it might be a dealbreaker for buyers wanting some performance in a more premium offering, in an ₹18 lakh XL7 (Grand Vitara 7-seater).

I dont remember if Maruti ever gave an underpowered car in Indian market. Maruti will murder the car by bolting this engine on a nearly 2-ton SUV.

We would definitely get the other Toyota derived NA engine with hybrid set up, that is being used in their existing twins. The hybrid has already proved its mettle. Worldover most Japanese Hybrid engines are NA types.

Hybrid could also be a big differentiator for Grand Vitara XL, otherwise, customers who have to buy brute, large would go for ScorpioN, Diesel efficiency - Carens, Premium - Alcazar (nothing but a Creta XL).
Maruti knows the market is missing a reliable and fuel efficient car in this segment and I feel they will not just go for the entry 7-seater, but also take away some customers from the segment below, which the car is actually based on

This should be the car that should make Mahindra worry.

Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

Honestly, this doesn't look big enough to be a 7-seater to me.

The roof it sloping downwards towards the back. I don't think there is a 3rd row in that space.

I think it will probably be a Coup-ish looking 5-seater mis-size SUV (but without going full coupe - like the Curvv / Basalt)

Maruti probably won't care about increasing the power output of their 1.5 NAs. But I really hope this 7-Seater GV (if it is one) and, if it happens, its Toyota Cousin will come with the 2.0L Hybrid from the Innova Hycross.

Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

There is nothing called 7 seater Grand Vitara on the anvil as per my sources. The Ertiga is due to be updated along with the XL6 for 6 airbag compliance but there is no other on going product under development.

It is highly likely to be the Arena counterpart of Grand Vitara, which again will be a 5 seater.

Not sure, I heard from a source that this is going to be the 5-seater Arena counterpart of the Grand Vitara and highly likely to retain the S-Cross or Ciaz nameplate.

Maruti Suzuki will expand its SUV portfolio with the introduction of an all-new midsize SUV which will be sold through the Arena dealerships.

Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

Maruti Suzuki' SUV and its Toyota counterpart will be a 5 seater SUV slotting in the B- segment.
There is no 7 seater Grand Vitara planned as of now!

> Project Y17 will be a 5 seater SUV retailing through Maruti Suzuki's Arena channel and Toyota's sales outlets.

Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

Maruti Suzuki clears the air on the 7 seat Grand Vitara.

Not heard of a Grand Vitara 7-seater internally, says Marut's top official

Quote:
When asked if the seven-seater Grand Vitara will qualify as a new SUV or a variant, during Maruti's Q4 FY25 earnings conference call, the company's Corporate Affairs Executive Officer Rahul Bharti said: "We keep hearing about such concepts and models about ourselves from the magazines and from analysts."

So, let's wait till the time comes. I have not heard of a Grand Vitara seven-seater internally at least
