Re: NGT sets up joint committee to report on Bengaluru's NO2 pollution

Why NO2 only & not CO (carbon monoxide)? Why single out the diesels when in BS6 petrol engines are as bad unless there is upgrade un technology?

What is the interest of NGT in overlooking vehicular pollution caused by petrols & EVs (battery replacement/ discard)?

Need to understand the logic behind their draconian moves especially in context of motor vehicles which often reek one-sidedness.

Re: NGT sets up joint committee to report on Bengaluru's NO2 pollution

NO2 is generally a solved problem from vehicular sources . BSIII controlled it, BSIV reduced it further and BSVI practically eliminated it . So already things are improving, if not completely solved . Also, its not feasible to meet every limit as defined by Europe where economic and social conditions are similar. So I guess officials will visit, take some measurement, table a report and topic will linger on as usual. Considering that nothing much could be done for AQI situation in delhi, this too will disapper in due course of time.

Good if it can result in some action. Also, they are taking this suo moto.

Guess the majority of NO2 at railway station is due to BMTC/KSRTC/private buses. At least BMTC can reduce it by switching to EVs. Not sure about long route KSRTC buses. Wish we start acting instead of studies.
