Honda Civic recalled

Hey,

Just read in the news papers. . . globally all honda civics are recalled. Has the same happened in India ?
Also what is the reason for the recall ? Has the legendary Honda reliability claim broken ?

cheers.

I found out about this last night at a Team-Bhp mini meet. Looked it up first thing this hungover morning. Here is the excerpt I found online. I believe it appeared in DNA money :

Honda Civic recall may not happen in India Sindhu Bhattacharya | Monday, 17 September , 2007, 09:35 Honda Civic owners in India need not worry. The assurance comes from V.P. Goila, vice-president, Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI), who says the company has found no reason to recall this car in India as yet.

Honda Motor Co recalled 182,756 Civics in the US on Friday to fix a wheel-bearing seal that may leak and cause the wheel to fall off.
"There is no such move right now (in India). We are studying the problem," Goila said.
HSCI is evaluating whether the right-hand drive model in India has the same defect as in the left-hand drive models in the US. Agency reports quoting senior GM (marketing) Jnaneswar Sen had said that Honda Siel has received a notice for a global recall.
"We have received a notice for a global recall. As far as we are concerned in India, we are not sure if this would affect here. However, when we get more details we will be able to take a call on it," Sen was quoted by agencies.
He, too, said that the company was checking the right-hand drive models in India. "If we find there are issues, then we will be definitely contacting our customers," he added.
If the company does recall Civic, it will be the second instance in three months. In July, HSCI had recalled 2,310 Accords manufactured between 2005 and 2006 as part of a global recall. The affected models in the US were made from March 24, 2005, through February 8, 2007, Honda said.
Water may be able to seep past an O-ring seal on the wheel bearing, damaging the bearing, Honda said in a letter on the on the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.
"This could cause a wheel to fall off of the vehicle, possibly resulting in a crash," the company said.
The Civic is Honda's second best-selling US model.
