Jeep Wrangler Willys ’41 Edition launched at Rs 73.24 lakh

Jeep has launched the limited-edition Wrangler Willys ’41 in India. The SUV is priced at Rs 73.16 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be limited to just 30 units.

The Jeep Wrangler Willys ’41 Edition is based on the Rubicon variant and draws inspiration from the original 1941 Willys. In addition to the existing colours, the special edition is offered in a new “41 Green” exterior shade.

The Willys ’41 Edition also gets a 1941 hood decal and add-ons like power side steps, grab handles, floor mats, and front and rear dashcams.

Additionally, customers can also opt for a Sunrider rooftop and side ladder with a roof carrier. The optional accessories pack is offered exclusively on the Willys ’41 Edition at a special price of Rs 4.56 lakh.

The Jeep Wrangler Willys ’41 Edition is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that produces 266 BHP and 400 Nm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and a 4-wheel drive system.

I think this will get sold out like crazy. With the ladder et al, it looks quite like the Defender 110. At half the price!

I have seen many of these in Mumbai streets, and this car is really something else. I'm sure Wrangler gives its owners bragging rights to overtake every car on-off the road.

Having said that, a Thar 2 door has more character than the base varaints of Wrangler that look very lame. Rubicon looks are killing.
The convertible Thar looks something else.

Crazy pricing, for a similar on road price, one can get a 392 in US. As always look terrific, colour is icing on the cake minus the hideous hood decal.

Given how the previous owners had to shell out 3.5L or so just for the side steps alone - I think the pricing is alright

, perhaps with zero to zero tariff offer of India to US, maybe we can expect this vehicle to be priced similar to a Fortuner - give or take 5L.

But the biggest problem I see is that stellantis decided to launch this specific version called Willy`s which is all of 30 units , create a rudimentary advertisement video featuring an old Jeep - All this is free marketing for Mahindra. A repositioning of Wrangler as a luxury SUV like Defender is needed at this time, it has done wonders for JLR who is now knocking at the door of Gwagen.
