4x4 addict is right, scorpio M2di makes 70 bhp @ 3200 rpm. we have this car in our native. its very refined & silent compared to the bolero but it lacks the responsivness of the regular scorpio, by a huge margin.

m2 di is the bolero engine vehicle. yes it develops 70 bhp.
and it does not have cladding etc.
no (ornamental) bonnet scoop.
more basic than the LX crde but much more comfy than the bolero- more refined too.
rear leaf springs like the old scorpio - but Im not 100% sure - it may have the multilink rear suspension - need to peer closely next time I see one.
tyre size/ wheel size also i think is 215/75/15 like in old scorpio as against the newer ones from 2006 which had a tyre upsize to 235/70/16.
yes it tends to look a bit top heavy somehow when compared even with the older (pre-2006) scorpio.
but it is meant to be a no frills people carrier aimed at the taxi segment. like Tata Spacio, Basic Sumo etc. this is not a "lifestyle SUV" more a utilitarian one. Usually comes in the 9 seater configuration and most users shove on a roofrack for luggage.
quite common in Tamil Nadu too - up country - like Krishnagiri, Salem, Hosur, Dharmapuri, Cuddalore, Pondy etc etc. Funnily enough not too many of these are seen in Ooty, Nilgiris etc - there the Bolero is more common as of now.

Tuning is different , Heavier body shell needed little more power to get respected.
M2DI is not BS3 so can not be registered in major cities.

raj what about the tyre size? is the M2di coming with the 15 inch wheels like bolero and the original scorpio or the 16 inchers like all regular crde scorpios which were produced from 2006 onward.

no buddy, what shankar mentioned is right. its 215/75/R15 for the M2di & 235/70/R16 for the mHawk. i think its interests of fuel economy as most M2di owners are cab operators.

The M2Di has just got AC & power steering in it. its bare basic. infact we bought it because we were looking for a cheap public carrier & this 9 seater M2di seemed ideal, when compared to sumo & bolero.
