the car has more of the laura touch in the form of the bumpers and the grill. the octavia which has been replaced in most parts with the laura. skoda now realiseing the outdated looks of the octavia is just bridgeing the gap between the two. the superb too would get a face lift. you could expect the new octavia at the auto show. i dont think an Rs version would be out anytime soon. give it a month after the facelifted octavia is launched.

I really dont think Skoda will come up with an Indian specific version with changed headlights, while the present global Octavia is still the same Laura.

Yes the Superb is all set to get a new dress, but not before the next year. Check the link out the new Superb is really superb with a 'phaeton'ish look

Exactly , Skoda will come up with laura Rs(Tdi) next year & cost should be around 18-19L & Fabia in january that's their only strategy .

karandeep i am aware of the present global octavia is the Laura my friend. that is why i said they would be bridgeing the gap between the two. you know something like bringing them to look similar and then discontinue with the octavia and just have the laura. the start point for this could be india and then they adapt it everywhere else too. i am just thinking aloud here. skoda knows what they are doing and their stratergy that they are following. they have their other cars on the way here as well so i guess we would have to wait and watch.

there has not been a face lifted skoda internationally. Internationally the face lifted Octi is the Laura. Period.

And skoda does not plan to get a face lift for the Skoda Octavia in the near future.

And yes the Superb is getting a new look all together in 2008 end.

MODS : Kindly close this topic.

speedy - 617631 "karandeep i am aware of the present global octavia is the Laura my friend. that is why i said they would be bridgeing the gap between the two. you know something like bringing them to look similar and then discontinue with the octavia and just have the laura. "

Speedy i never intended to question if u actually knew that the Laura is the Octy mate. pretty sure everyone on this forum knows that.

what i meant to say was i really 'still' doubt if Skoda would kick on with facelifted cars with India. i mean yes Hyundai has done it with the i10, but then its a small car, and Octy aka Laura is a global car for Skoda (yeah more of a Taxi). Not to forget that we got the Laura only after almost a year it was launched globally.

Also as ac 427 said there hasnt been a global facelift of the Octy aka Laura and there wasnt any news in any of the recent motor shows either.

The 'New Octavia' is the same as the Laura, but with extended chassis for better legroom.

"Skoda is planning to face-lift the Octavia early next year with minor cosmetic changes. This will be the first face-lift for the car since it was launched here back in 2000."

These are the pics of the New octavia(LAURA) Facelift . The New Octavia (Laura) is due for a facelift in the int. markets . The facelift is planned for a end 2008 or early 2009 launch . This aint a new superb or Old Octavia Facelift .Expect this facelifted Laura to hit our showrooms after a year of its int. launch .

i hope everyones doubts are cleared with GS's post of a scanned copy of the autocar arcticle. dont know how close the car would look to the picture posted by Beemer, but i said things going on the picture provided.
so it seems skoda is useing india as the start point of its octavia to laura changeover. like i said earlier lets wait and watch what the final product looks like and not jump to conclusions. only skoda knows what they are upto since they have chosen to be tight lipped about it.

i heard octy-1 will be downgraded with 1.6 engine (as against the current 1.9/1.8) and priced lower. it might get some cosmetic changes too in the process. the current octy-1 is a closed chapter after that launch of the Laura ambiente.
