I too think there is something wrong with amit's post.
A car which does 20-80 third gear in 11.90 seconds will have a sub 10 second 0-100 timings, unless its a diesel.

Each Car Mag will have their own figures!

Time to close this thread!

different figures but a difference of 17 kmph in top speed..!!!:Ofrom 171 to 154

Hello All,

I really can not compare these two, but I have voted for 1.6 because I have taken a test drive very recently and checked the interiors of the car and the power of this engine. I don’t know much about Getz Prime 1.5 CRDI. But I can give definitely a good understanding why I have voted for 1.6. Because, for that price (4.65 On-road) you are getting almost a similar kind of engine which is currently there in the SX4, please find the two Engine specifications below and in this thread some one has said that Palio is an outdated model, if it is so why don’t you give the same statement to SX4 because even its has the same kind of engine in and technology in it. But when you look at the interiors, definitely you can not get same kind of interiors which are therein SX4 and Getz prime. And we should not expect more that that for 4.65. But getting the same power what they have. And as far as the looks, definitely the new palio stile 1.6 dominates in the entire Hatch segment.

SX4:

Displacement 1586 cc
Bore 78 mm
Stroke 83 mm
Cylinder Configuration 4-inline
Valve Gear Operation DOHC
Compression Ratio 9.0:1
No. Of Valves 16
Aspiration Naturally-aspirated
Fuel System Denso
Horse Power 102@5500 ps@rpm
Torque 145@4200 Nm@rpm

Palio Stile 1.6:

Displacement 1596 cc
Bore 80.5 mm
Stroke 78 mm
Cylinder Configuration 4-inline
Valve Gear Operation DOHC
Compression Ratio 9.5:1
No. Of Valves 16
Aspiration Naturally-aspirated
Fuel System MPFi
Horse Power 98.63@5500 ps@rpm
Torque 137@4250 Nm@rpm

By the way I am going to get my 1.6 by next week.:)

Today i had seen Yellow Palio on road. It was looking wow!! That colour really suits palio.

Well overdrives november issue quotes the true top speed of the hyundai getz crdi at a 'sad' and 'hopeless' 154.87 kmph.
Now how many want to change their answer to the palio
I definately want to shift to palio now
110 bhp and 154 kmph Sheess..!!
Off topic: a swift with its 75 bhp fixed geometry turbo has a true top speed of 152.4 kmph
So much for the 35 bhp advantage.

Thats still a mystery (Even I read that issue of Overdrive, it was hard to digest) because the Getz Crdi carries the exact same engine and transmission of the Verna and some other Magazines (I think 'What Car') claim a top speed of 170 kmph for Getz.

Hello Ppl,

This is a very interesting thread and one I was expecting to see sooner rather later.

Now lets be clear on what are we talking about and what do we want to conclude?

1. The most comfortable, practical & fast hatch back?

OR

2. The Hottest Hatch?

There is a LOT of difference between the above two questions, and I am sure most of you must have guessed the answers by now.

Interestingly, Top Gear January edition has an article trying to answer these very questions and their team has compared Swift Petrol, Hyundai Getz Crdi and Palio Sport 1.6.

I would rather not spill the beans here, but would request you to read the entire article 'top to bottom'.

For those interested in pure numbers, there is not much difference in 0-100 times of Getz and Palio. I dont have the book in front of me right now, but it was smthing like:

Getz - 11.3 secs
Palio - 11.4 secs

But any true motorhead would understand that numbers don't give the entire story especially while answering to questions like 'Hottest Hatch'.

A Hot Hatch should be nothing but a great 'Driver's Car' which means that rare combination of Power, handling, ride.

Nothing does the above better than a Palio 1.6. No car produced in India has laid claim to that title, won it hands down and has been the reigning champion ever since like the Palio 1.6 and the S10 to be more specific.

Over & Out!

Its Getz CRDi-

Drive this baby before you rate it, I am sure you'll change your mind towards Getz CRDi

Anju

Palio was chosen based on power, drivability and stability of the car. Getz was not behaving very good on corners.

Palio Sport is the Hottest hatch in India. More so since I bought mine just two days before.lol:

I bought it only because it was the hottest hatch even before I bought it.

Its sheer Driving Pleasure, c'mon the whole thing of comparison is absurd (from a drivers point of view).

1.6 Sport is in a class of its own.

Its a known fact that Palio Stile 1.6 Sport is meant for sheer driving pleasure. Its a drivers car with performance. Arguments on Nitty gritty things like better interiors / mileage doesn't hold good at all.

Certain things could be better in the crdi, but when it comes to rolling the wheels on the asphalt, it lags way behind 1.6 sport.

Someone looking for the concept of "Man & the Machine" would appreciate Palio stile 1.6 Sport.

I dont know about 1.6 stile but the old Palio 1.6 GTX is really one hot hatch . Its quite stable at higher speeds too.
I wanted to get myself one but found Cedia before that. If I had spotted a low run car I would have bought that coz its really awesome. The newer BSIII palio's dont feel that quick.

Ferrari Red Palio

I vote for palio 1.6. I test drove 1.3 Getz petrol and 1.6 Palio, I felt good in palio from driving perspective and comfort on pothole ridden roads. It has been a little more than an year that I owned 1.6 sport, I am extremely happy about it. Performance is at its best. I didnt drive getz 1.5 yet voted for 1.6, sorry! Vote is purely out of passion and love for the car :thumbs up.
