Latest news - Tata Motors is looking to bring the Humvee into India - initially for the Indian Army only.

They are open to bringing the H2 or H3 into India if the project materialises!

Tata is looking at bringing in this vehicle only for the Indian Army. Basically the Indian Army is looking for around 650 off-road vehicles. Tata is offering to them the Humvee. There are also other contenders for this.

More details as soon as I get my hands on the Auto Monitor. Left my copy at home.

Only the H1 was made as a Defence Vehicle. None of the new Hummers are used in the defence sector for any country in the world. How can they offer the H2 or H3 for the Indian Army then??? There is some misconception I guess!!

heheh maybe the sumo is being relaunched .it wudnt perform like a humvee,but i will definitely outweigh it.

Ultimately, it would be upto the US govt. to decide wether to offer the humvee to another country for use in the military. I doubt TATA would have much say in this.

Humvee alone is for the Indian Army.

If this project materialises, then Tata might bring the H2/H3 for Indian market.

The US Army has no say in whether the Humvee can be sold to other countries. Humvee belongs to AM General who sold the Humvee's to the US Army. Tata is offering the Humvee to the Indian Army in collaboration with AM General.

I thought GM had the marketing rights of the Humvee

Am General is the manufacturer of the Humvee.

The price of the base humvee in the US is around 30 lakhs according to Auto Monitor.

I don't care what they do to the Humvee, as long as they don't sell it to the general public. Those SUVs already here ar starting to cause a pain as it is. Where are the darn roads?
