JCB: It's been a huge rumor that Maruti will make the A-Star concept's production model for the domestic and export market. Just yesterday Suzuki revealed the latest concept model at the Geneva auto show and all signs point at THIS being the closest thing to the final production model.

Suzuki A-Star Concept: 2008 Geneva Auto Show

very sexy car, hope it will be in market before this year end...

If this in on Indian roads in 2008, then it will be the most stylish small car in India

As the heading goes its still a concept car.I dont think it will be into production in the near future.

There's no doubt India is the most important market for Suzuki nowadays. They've really invested a lot in India to ensure their models reign supreme.

I'd guess Suzuki is very interested in making this car a reality. They've already shown this concept just a few months ago in New Delhi and it got rave reviews. This time they're showing it at Geneva as their showcase model. Why'd they go through all that trouble ... first a showing in New Delhi and then featuring it at the Geneva Auto Show unless they seriously wanted to build it?

IMO even if it does make it to production, it would look very different from what it look right now.
Lets hope the current one is also available as a variant. stupid:

Why can't the same prototype turned into production. I think its quite possible and should come out as it is with very minor changes in its looks.

It is very much possible sir, but its very unlikely to happen because of various factors which Suzuki/Maruti would be worried about.
e.g: Indian Roads,Fuel Efficiency etc etc.

Above all the price sensitive indian market is not the right place to launch this one.It is a small car but the gadgets in this one is too much for it to be launched in a price bracket of 3 lakhs.

Ram, I agree with you about the gadgets part. But why did MSIL first show the concept car in India ???

A STAR if launched in INDIA, would not have all the gadgets as shown in Auto Expo.
And if launched with all gadgets then its price would be way above the small car price bracket i.e around 3 - 4

I think because it has been developed by Indian engineers.

Hey karan, there are lots of concepts at different stands for almost all manufacturers. But that doesnt mean that they have to bring it to production. They get a feedback regarding the same so that they can decide on different aspects of design and value addition for their existing as well as the newer ones.
