What's with "MG" number plate cars in Karnataka.?

Do these guys get any special tax benefits ? Are they Government employees?

Someone please throw some light on these number plates.

Thanks

If it's KA-03 MG, it's standard issue. Any other district, 01, 02, 04, 05, they are special issue, to people with 'pull'. Normally private cars of government officials or well-connected people.

I really doubt that these people get any special benefits. In mmbai if you want the number 1, they open a whole new series for you and you gotta pay them accordingly.

p.s.-its about a lakh

Nothing special

MG is a standard series and there is nothing special about it...
Only G or GA refers to Govt Vehicles

AFAIK, MG is for people with good contacts or people with good posts in the Govt. We once owned an Indica that read KA-04-MG-1818. Everytime there was a random cop check, the minute they saw the number plate the cops would salute and let us off immediately. One constable I asked said it was because of the MG factor. Though these days one gets to see a lot of MG cars. Its become common now.

OMG...thankfully i don't own a MG car. On a serious note does that mean that if a MG car is involved in an accident (and/or rash driving) [GOD FORBID either] does it get away with a salute!!! not exactly comfortable with the idea.

Is that so? I have a KA-03 MG **** . Its just a standard issue. Anyone getting their car registered in Indira Nagar RTO last year would have got MG. All my friends who got their cars last year have it. Now its MH.

Nothing official about it. I have an MG on my car and I'am neither a govt servant / politician/ minister / bearucrat etc. It is just another series in the no. But GA or G stands for Govt vehicles.
