Baleno spares not easily available ?

This is what anshuman has said (from Delhi) in another thread:

If it is true in Delhi, what about other metros ? It must be
even more true in smaller places ! I'd understand it if
the parts were to be imported (like they were sometime back).
But they are supposed to be made in India now (hence the
drastic price cut for spares, I guess). How come they are not
easily available then ? Not too many Balenos ? What's the
experience of the Baleno owners ? Is it a valid concern
for prospective Baleno buyers ? If so, then this puts a
whole new perspective to the general impression about the
excellence of Maruti's service -- it applies only to the
more popular models !! Comments please.

i dont think that there is really a problem with the baleno's spares.and regarding baleno owners,i know quite a few of them and they are too happy with their car.

i think Anshuman has had some wrong information.

My uncle recently got his side view mirror replaced and guess how much they charged him.........6000 bucks!!! For one side view mirror!!! Even if the parts are available, they ain't gonna be cheap.

So, you better be careful about what you break. Hehe

Dont remember exactly, but I guess Baleno comes with Power assisted side view mirrors. If that is the case, it explains such a high cost.

Yes you people are right ! baleno's spares arent cheap, for ex: somtime back i enquired about the New Front cromed gril, and came to know that it costs around 7K Including tax. When i commented, the spares guy told me it is directly imported from Suzuki Japan. and he was true when i saw the pack. Not only that when i checked out the Suzuki fog lamps for the front bumber he said its 13.5K !!!! But so far i understand all the spares are available. atleast with one or the other dealer.

oh god...i bought the baleno over the optra 1.6 because it's a hell of a lot better to drive AND cheaper to keep (or so i thought!)...

nightmares involving maruti dealerships are on the way...

Umm.. no.. When only one glass was broken in my VTEC, we just replaced the glass. There was no need to buy the entire set. And i replaced it at the showroom itself. Not outside. It cost 600 bucks. Nothing more. When the entire sideview mirror was broken, it cost 3400 with the entire assembly.

There isnt much of a problem as far as spares availbility are concerned but they still are damn expensive on the baleno coz their indianization percentage is still very less. I remember a year back a set of front brake pads used to be almost 5K!! i mean come on, who in their right minds wud pay 5000 rupees for a set of BRAKE PADS!! unbeliveable but true (i was working as a customer care manager in delhi's best maruti dealership for a while then)

it was a problem in high price with the spares when they were directly imported but now they are made in india itself so the prices have gone down a lot
for example 2 years back a bumper would cost around 12k because it was directly imported and now it is available for 3k as it is made in india
